djeans 0 Posted May 9 I picked up a used CE6000-60 that appears to have the wrong firmware installed. On booting up, the screen would show an error stating: "NG!!! DIP-SW=0001 FIRMAARE=120AP (AP DIP-SW =0011)" and would not go any further. I tried downloading the latest CE6000 firmware, but every time I try to install it, I get an error that just says "Bad Firmware CE6000" I reached out to Graphtec, who sent me a link to the firmware, but wasn't able to offer much help outside of that. On a whim, I tried changing the dip switches to match what the error message was saying, and it finished booting to the main screen. I got excited thinking that it would work, but any time I would try to do anything it would fail with an error about needing to adjust the rollers. Does anyone have an idea why it won't let me install the CE6000 firmware? ChatGPT suggested that there is a way to make a recovery jig by shorting 2 of the pins on the mainboard to get to a recovery boot that might let me flash the correct firmware, but could not tell me which specific pins to short. Does anyone here have any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
darcshadow 1,641 Posted May 12 What exactly does the roller error message say?
MZ SKEETER 4,720 Posted May 12 I can offer you the "service" manual. NOT user manual to help trouble shoot. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1978540/Graphtec-Ce6000-Series.html

djeans 0 Posted May 13 Thank you for the replies. I’ll take a look at the service manual. Let me know if you think of anything else. I’ll update this post if I figure it out.
MZ SKEETER 4,720 Posted May 13 Realign the push roller is making sure 1 grit roller on the right side is in the area of the large grit roller on the bottom. There always has to be a pinch roller on the right side, large grit roller. then on the left side the pinch roller is square in the middle of one of the grit rollers on the bottom. Look at those pinch roller/grit areas straight on. They are sensitive. Also you could try resetting the cutter back to Default. Turn on the POWER button, "while" holding down the UP ARROW. Follow prompts. Your welcome. https://www.google.com/search?q=How+to+factory+default+a+Graphtec+CE6000+vinyl+cutter&rlz=1C1GCEU_enUS1161&oq=How+to+factory+default+a+Graphtec+CE6000+vinyl+cutter&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigAdIBCjQ5ODI5ajBqMTWoAgiwAgHxBePN6eLw5IEG8QXjzeni8OSBBg&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-
djeans 0 Posted Sunday at 10:04 PM Thank you to everyone who offered help. I was able to get it working with the help of ChatGPT. If anyone else ends up in the same boat, this is what I did that finally worked:ChatGPT helped me use some command line tools that intercepted the firmware dump from the SEND.exe app for both the AP120 firmware (what was installed in the plotter but would not work correctly) and the CE6000-60 firmware. From there it was able to help me compare the hex values between the two and re-wrap the CE6000-60 firmware to identify itself as the AP120 firmware - essentially telling the plotter that we were installing a new AP120 firmware, but with a "payload" that was actually the CE6000-60 firmware. That didn't "work" completely, but it did fool the plotter boot loader into deleting the installed firmware - the "payload" that ChatGPT helped me create was uploaded, but it crashed the plotter and it would not load past the flash boot loader screen. - BUT - that left it a "blank slate" that allowed me to use the SEND.exe tool to flash the correct firmware. After that I was able to use the UPDATE.exe tool to update to the latest V270 firmware.
MZ SKEETER 4,720 Posted Sunday at 11:23 PM Your welcome, GREAT, glad you got it going. WE tell users not to upgrade here. If it is working, don't mess with it. We see others mess their cutters up, trying to upgrade the firmware. My Graphtec is a 2008, never upgraded firmware.
