Using AI2 and trying to transfer to SCAL pro

Recommended Posts

When I make my own design and save it as a svg file, when I open it up in SCAL pro it shuts down the program every time. What am I doing wrong? I'm using Adobe Illustrator 2. Thanks in advance.

why are you saving an .ai file as a .svg file..?   SCALP has an adobe illustrator plugin

Does it not work with your Illustrator?

From Craftedge below

SCAL, eCAL Adobe Illustrator Plugin

If you use Adobe Illustrator, you can use the Sure Cuts A Lot/eCAL plugin to transfer your design directly from Adobe Illustrator to Sure Cuts A Lot/eCAL.

You can download the plugin at http://www.craftedge.com/download/download_extras.php

Make sure you download the correct plugin for your version of Sure Cuts A Lot/eCAL.

I would suggest updating SCALP (if you have not already) then if that doesn't work upgrade your Adobe to CS3 or higher. Probably a compatibility issue between the two programs. Also you may want to try a plug in. I use one for Sign Cut Pro and never have to save multiple files to clog my hard drive.

The only thing I've seen that the AI plugin will send is text items. I've yet to be able to send an image.

It has been a long while since I tried out SCALP but I thought it would accept older AI files like version 3 or 8 (the ones predating the CS versions) I may be wrong on that because it has been a few years since I tried it. I was able to save the files in one form or other and then just open them in SCALP. The plug-in was problematic back then.
