Airbrushed vinyl

Recommended Posts

Just a quick one I made just to try my airbrushing "skills" combined with some vinyl work.

Is not removable vinyl but I just don't care ;D

Inspirational ;D

Ive read that Createx make one thats called "auto air" and supposedly works well for this. Has additives available for curing, and adhesion.

And it needs a top (clear) coat. ;D

I like that !! IT made me wanna give it a shot too . White vinyl /Badger pearl blue and purple fade /Duplicolor clear  . I got some lift but I think that I should wait 24 hours for the paint to cure before I stack next time .

I'm liking this idea - especially if I can do it with just spraypaint.

I'm going to cut a quick test and put it on my car, see how it holds up.

@ JoeBlow - It's " Minster No 3 " There are 5 of them but 3 looks fancy and still cuts decent in small scale .

Thanks for the info Marek it's a great looking font.

Thanks for posting the PDF Joe.  Butch "Super Frog" Anton had a great video I bought years ago on using a spay can or rattle gun as he called it with a piece of cardboard for graduating it.  I tried it for a couple of jobs.  Spray be before you weed or the overspray sticks to the application tape and gets onto your substrate.

I've painted vinyl a few times, but have only tried on Oracal 651.  I scuffed with gray scothbrite and hit with adhesion promoter before painting.

Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel

Turned out nice, but I don't trust rattle can clear.  I've had trouble with the duplicolor clear with airbrush projects.  If you touch it with lotion on your hands it gets soft...ruined a computer mouse I did.

Urathane Automotive Paint

Added flex agent.  Turned out nice, but the vinyl shrank a little.  Don't know how long the paint will last on this one.

I have Createx, Auto Air, and One Shot that I'll be testing with eventually.
