FDC is cost effective and easy to work with. It is about 90% of what I use.

I just started using FDC also. I had been ONLY using oracal for the past couple of years but decided to switch to FDC for the price and the fact I can go pick it up less than an hr. away.

I recently bought about 6 different colored rolls of Oracal 651 from Fellers. So far so good.

Got my first banner request yesterday, so I'll see how it works on banners, soon!

I'm going to be giving FDC a try.  There is a distributor in NJ who has an actual website that I can order from...either that, or I can ask a friend of mine to pick my order up on her way home from work...no shipping  :woohoo:

I get asked this question a lot.

here is my answer about what vinyls to use.

For all outdoor and vehicle work only ever use 7 year vinyl.

For all indoor and temp work only ever use 3 year vinyl.

There are three types of vinyl.

1. Cast Polymeric.

2. Calendered Polymeric.

3. Calendered Monomeric.

The last one is sometimes sold as Contact for lining shelves and drawers.

NEVER USE MONOMERIC VINYL FOR SIGNS.

Also some cheap nasty imported ones from China are monomeric.

Be careful about any 'cheap' vinyl.

After using the wrong or cheap vinyl you may have to do the job again after a couple of weeks and in the bargain lose your new customer.

Believe me the customer will NEVER come back to you.

Cast is expensive and in my opinion it is unnecessary to use unless this unless it is specified by a client.

The brand?  it does not matter.

Try a few until you get the one you like to weed easily.

They all have different weeding properties.

The more plasticizer in the PVC the easier it is to weed.

The more plasticizer the softer the vinyl and the harder it can be for beginners to apply.

It just takes practice.
