Sandblasted mirror

Recommended Posts

Guest kenya

I've finally etched my first mirror with no mistakes.

Here's what I have finally done to get it right.

My compressor is set 80 psi, I'm using 70 grit aluminum oxide & making sure that all my un-etched areas are covered really well. And I've found that using some vinyl scraps works great for this.

All the other tape that I've tried takes forever to remove. The vinyl just peels off with very little effort.

And on the back of the mirror I used some application tape. It worked great also.

Pre-masking everything took about 5 minutes.

Actual blasting time was about 2 minutes.

Removing tape & vinyl and cleaning the sticky residue, another 5 minutes.

Looks out beer mugs...... your next.

Looks great ! What kind of blasting gun are you using?

Sandblasting cabinet from Harbor Freight.

What mask do you use?

Oracal 651 works great.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Did you use a pressuire pot How do you reclaim the grit?

All of the media is in the bottom of the cabinet & gets sucked back through the gun.

I have an small pancake air compressor set up outside & have an air hose installed through the wall to the cabinet.

Nice work you'll be blasting everthing soon.

Next time you get media try the 100 or 120 grit.

Will be a difference in how it looks then decide

which you like better.
