ff958 0 Posted January 13, 2009 Hi all. A local volunter fire dept is buying new air packs and the want their logo installed on the bottles and the packs. The ones on the bottles are going to have an epoxy coating put over them so they cannot be removed. So my question is what would be the best vinyl for this application. I am very new to this so any and all help is great. Thanks.
Dylan 0 Posted January 14, 2009 Oracal reflective in the color of their choice, but that stuff is real expensive & will dull the heck out of a blade in no time.
ff958 0 Posted January 14, 2009 They do not need to be reflective because they are just a way for them to number their equipment for maintance and such. Does Oracal or anyone else make a vinyl that would be durable enough for this type of application other than the reflective stuff?
ff-extreme 6 Posted January 14, 2009 It's also a pain in the butt to weed especially small stuff. FYI, the "bottles" are called cylinders, bottles are for babies tanks are for war! sorry I'm an PA State Fire Instructor old habits die hard! What type of epoxy are you putting over them? ff958 0 Posted January 14, 2009 Not sure what type epoxy they are planning to use. Their cheif has talked with the company they are buying from but he did not tell me what it is they are going to use. They are applying the epoxy. And yes they are a pain to weed I made them a sample the other day. Yes I am clear they are called cylinders and not bottles. I called them bottles so everyone would know what I was refering to. I too am in the fire service Firefighter/paramedic on the local dept. No reason to be sorry no offense taken.
Cre8tiveCutter 7 Posted January 15, 2009 wont they melt off in extreme heat? Extreme heat being a burning structure??? Renee If you know of something please let me as our local fd is also looking for material that will not melt off...lol
ff958 0 Posted January 16, 2009 They will get warm but they should not get that hot, but if they do the guy/girl wearing the pack is in trouble and the decal will be the last thing they are worried about. I found out yesterday that is how all the decals on our packs were applied, but noone knows anything about the vinyl or the epoxy.
Cre8tiveCutter 7 Posted January 16, 2009 Well thats good to know! I know for a fact that any stickers and decals they put on thier helmets get unrecognizable, yet they keep spending thier money and putting on new stickers/decals...lol Renee
