Primal Rage Outdoors 0 Posted November 12, 2008 Okay, so i'm cheap, but has anyone built their own heat press?, i see, hundreds of new ones on sale here and on ebay everyday, but I always love the felling of building my own stuff, like the big squeegees n such, so has anyone built one if so, where do you get the parts for such a project ? I built one about a year ago for $50 or so in supplies and it worked great. Gave it to my brother. He says it still works great. You need to be pretty handy with tools....not a Norm Abram but able to cut straight and true.

JoeDirt 5 Posted November 13, 2008 I have on of those pancake griddles but its tough cause it has a curve in the center I know you can put more pressure on it but it still was inconsistent. If I didn't buy a new press I would've tried the oven trick that was posted on here.
Primal Rage Outdoors 0 Posted November 13, 2008 I don't have any software for the SBD file format to open your file anyone got it in another extension, John I picked up a presto grill for 17 bucks, wife bout died, when i broke out the die grinder and cut the lip off of it, lol, Got a buddy who owns a carpet store, so I got the pad for free, lol, now i will get the wood tommorrow and get to work maybe, got my mind on the Deer season rifle opener this weekend, lol

BannerJohn 1,324 Posted November 13, 2008 Bravo!!! Now we all know that it can be done and pics to prove it! And doesn't it feel good?
Guest fivestar Posted November 13, 2008 I'm glad you made one, BUT I would be scared to death to press shirts and sell them using it. Wash that shirt a few times and see if the vinyl stays on good. Not saying it won't, but that would be the test.
BannerJohn 1,324 Posted November 13, 2008 yeah, let us know. I still have a few shirts I did with my home-made one and I reckon maybe 20 or so washings with no problems.

Primal Rage Outdoors 0 Posted November 13, 2008 Here is the skull, Jen, I have six adjustment screws on the top of the platen for different material thickness, and i use good ole' American male muscle to put the pressure to it, lol, this is my yugo Model, I'm Drawing up a Cadillace version in AutoCad now, lol pr skull.eps pr skull.eps
