Anyone Paint Glass..?? (instead of etching)
FrznFire07 replied to threezzz's topic in General discussion
what about frosted vinyl? we use it once in awhile to achieve the etch look. -
Check out this full wrap we just completed, we don't do these as often as we would like so it took longer than it should, how long does it take you guys to do a full wrap? we did everything but the roof. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.753580178046083.1073741875.534144906656279&type=1

yea we thought about that after we spent half the day with one piece of vinyl! the hardest parts were actually where the bumper wraps around the side and especially that area in the front bumper where the fog lights are recessed. we really only do about one of these a year, we would like to do more, but not a lot businesses in this town have the money to do a full wrap.

We aren't as bad as you guys but it was still single digits this morning and we got about an inch of snow over the weekend. Right now it's about 20.

if anyone can help I'd appreciate it, I did this design two years, changed computers and lost the font, whatthefont doesn't come up with anything close enough, any ideas?

lol yea i had to double check, she's a hair stylist!

we actually do this quite often, we have a company in town that wanted a silver metallic with a blue fade on their trucks and for a long time we used krylon spray paint on Oracal Silver 951 to achieve the look. They still look good 7 years later.

now I'm curious, I was thinking who in the hell would spend $15,000 on a 15"plotter so I looked it up, there are $10,950 right now new. It sounds like a normal plotter to me. I have the same question, is there something special about these plotters I'm not seeing? btw, there are several of these on ebay for $1,500 - $2,000.

Looks nice, I'm addicted to clash of clans

Try unmasking it. Illustrator will sometimes put masks around groups of objects.

Looks nice!

Don't need a font identifier for those... Early Iron = Clarentdon BT Bold Restoration = Commerical Script BT

651 is a calendered vinyl and any calendared vinyl will shrink due to the manufacturing process. (it is stretched not cast) therefore it has somewhat of a memory and will shrink. It probably shrinks quite a bit more in my climate than it normally would. But over time usually not more than 1/16" - 1/8". also depends on what it's adhered to and how much direct sunlight it gets.
-
Love IT! we use it for all kinds of things, it does have some minor shrinkage issues but it's still far better than 631.
-
yea we have since switched to 3M but even 3M told us because of our area we only get 60-75% of the expected life span of the vinyl.

If you all remember we've been having major issues with oracal 5600 reflective. I wanted to show everyone an example of what we're dealing with. This is two sides of a F550 extra cab. there are four colors of vinyl here all oracal 751 with the exception of all white, and "and repair llc". those are the oracal 5600 reflective. obviously one side of the truck is getting more sun than the other but the passenger is starting to do the same thing. So the game... Can you guess how old these graphics are? For those of you that don't know Oracal 5600 has a 7 year outdoor durability.
-
We installed these graphics in Oct 2012. (23 Months) This is the same reflective vinyl that we striped the ENTIRE fire dept fleet with, and have had to replace. Our UV here is ridiculous. BTW, these trucks are taken care of well, the last set of graphics lasted 8 years, so needless to say customer is not too happy.

oramask or greenstar 7000/7010 for stencils
FrznFire07 replied to thewishingwall's topic in General discussion
honestly we've looked into re-usable stencils in the past and we still just use one time use paint mask. you get the cleanest lines with an adhesive backed vinyl. If you are trying to make a reusable stencil it really can't have an adhesive back and you end up with a lot of "overspray" we use 3M gerber paint mask.- 1 reply

Yea I'm going to have to disagree with 101Led, I like the design, it's definitely a more modern look, the name of your business is what catches your eye. I personally like lowercase text, the only thing I would change is the colors. I saw you mentioned you should've uploaded in RGB so maybe that's all I'm seeing, but the colors are way too "neon"
