Customer brought in a 21"x31" sign that our local FstSigns made. It is on a thin (less than 1/16") bendable vinyl/plastic. It as to fit back into the frame so thicker material is out. Any suggestions? Thanks Sue2

It' is not directly printed....it has a printed adhesive vinyl poster on it. I'll have to visit Wally World this weekend and see if they have it. It's tough and thin and yes, it can be rolled up somewhat...not real tight though...and doesn't hold the curl. What department did you see it in? Sue2

Separating sticky weeded Heat Transfers is about all it's good for. Although, if the backside is matte and there is nothing printed on it, a nursery school or child care center may be able to use it for drawing etc. Or hand it to those CHEAP customers who want a banner for nothing! Sue2

Hard to take a picture of the cream color back... it's the thickness of a paperclip and opaque. I thought it may be something common since the sticker on the back said Fstsigns. Sue2

We have 7 large plate glass windows... the building used to be a showroom. Not that the thought hasn't crossed my mind... Cost would be prohibitive to replace all. Sue2

Don't worry...I won't be the one rushing in to defend the shop. As I said before, I'm interested in some deterant measures. Motion sensor lights. LOUD alarm if they try to break a window. Stickers & signs will help too...especially since I can make them myself. Maybe a few cameras & a screen out front in the customer area showing the camera views. Sue2

http://www.dlink.com/us/en/home-solutions/view/network-video-recorder/dnr-202l Yes. Looks like you can set up your own video recording system with up to 4 wireless cameras. But again, once they break in the damage is done and all you get is satisfaction. IF they are caught... Sue2

I'm looking for something to discourage the deadbeats from considering a break-in. Doesn't seem to matter if you get them on camera.... once they are gone, you aren't going to get your money or stuff back....and you're still out the cost of the broken window/door repairs. The problem I see with an empty cash drawer is that if they get pissed off because there is nothing, they may take it out on the equipment. Then you're out even more. Sue2

Cutting a stencil and using high temp paint would probably be a better solution. Sue2

Green with envy here! Fantastic deal! Sue2 -
Good job Skarekrow..... You are very generous with your skill. I hope the recipients are appreciative and not just abusing the intent of this forum. Sue2

Are there any laws regarding the coverage of the rear window on vehicles? Or front or side windows? In case of an accident, I wouldn't want them sueing me because the vinyl/decal blocked the rear view. Sue2

Hmmmmm, I'll have to try that.... or get one of them folder thingys. Sue2

I've used the T-Square-It and it does help with centering. BUT, if you are good at eyeballing it, you will save time. I think that pressing a centerline is helpful but again, more time consuming in the end. PLUS, you can level everything all you want on the flat but when the shirt is worn, the person's body shape & shoulder set takes over and does affect the overall "level" look....especially on front pocket imprints. Just my experience. Sue2

Like everyone else has said, dealing with quantities of 1-2-3 decals is not cost efficient....even on a smaller 24" machine or the handy 20" Roland (...supplies cost more). Customers do not generally understand what all is involved besides the initial cost of the machines & supplies. (thousands of $$$) design time ("but I sent you my file in WORD") print charges ("it's only 10" & doesn't take much ink I printed it out at home") laminate charges ("why does it need to be laminated?") cut charges ("I can cut it out myself") packing & shipping charges. ("other sellers don't charge for shipping.") credit card fees ("our CC doesn't charge fees.) Did I miss any? oh, profit.....sorry we're trying to avoid being a non-profit business. When you sit down and add it all up, those two decals generally cost the vendor $20-30 in overhead, time & supplies. And, yes, you have to consider the initial cost of your equipment and it's eventual replacement cost. Right now, if I have customers wanting small sizes/quantities of decals I bunch the jobs together and explain that it may be a few weeks turn-around. It's not a perfect solution but it works for the most part. If they don't want to wait...they pay the freight. Sue2

A little bit of paint can solve that one quickly & cheaply. Sue2

Advanced Signs & Graphics? If you can't come up with a logo on your own, how will you help your customers? They willl expect YOU to create their logos. Some will have an idea....some not a clue. Just my 2 cents. Sue2 ***************************** For ideas, you might try looking around at: http://logotournament.com/

If that is all you have to work with it's going to be rough. It is way too small for a good trace. You are better off tracing by hand the elements you are trying to copy. Or, sometimes if you print it out at the best resolution you can.... then enlarge on a good copier, you MAY be able to get a better trace off the copy. Also, there are many people here that do amazing reproductions with very little to work with.... and charge a pittance for their expertise. Good Luck, Sue2

Software Question For Design Adobe Illistrator Or Correll Draw
Sue2 replied to Capt'n Morgan's topic in Pre-sale questions
I have both plus Inkscape. If I had to choose just one...it would be Corel. AI seems a bit cumbersome at times. There are things AI can do better than Corel and vice versa. It may be that I started with Corel 3.0 and am more comfortable with it.... If I need to make a graphic, poster, design....etc I go to Corel first. Now, for photo editing my choice is Adobe Photoshop over Corel's Photo Paint. Again, it's probably what you get used to. I DON'T LIKE OR WANT ANY CLOUD BASED VERSIONS. I am surprised that Quark hasn't taken advantage of this. Good Luck! Sue2 -
Almost did it again! Had 20+ HTV pocket logos ready to cut.... and hit the send button.... whew, caught that one in time. Generally the only place I ever MIRROR anything is HTV... and I have to watch myself. Darn with all the NAG pop-ups around wouldn't you think they could put ONE in the cutter program just to ask the simple question... "Do you need to mirror this file before cutting?" Saved this time... Sue2

I might just give that a try... My problem is I get so deep into the design and layout that everything else is sidelined. I may not even notice my own sign to myself. Sue2
