Weather report from the tip top of Virginia..... This was our back patio this morning at 9AM.. It was about 18-20" deep with the drifts going to about 30". Have had to shovel out a space for the dog three times so far......... Snowing here now about 2" per hour and is expected to continue until late this afternoon. Reports say we have had 30" so far.... Thankfully, so far no power outages. Oh, fun...got to shovel the dog a spot again! Sue2

Okay.....parking lots still have 5 foot snow piles leftover from 3 weeks ago (see above) and this morning we have 3" more snow, topped with sleet, topped with freezing rain and now water from above...making for a VERY slippery surface. Luckily the main streets have been treated BUT, the driveway, side streets and parking lots are slick sheets of ice....think skating rink ice. Now we are under a flood warning as all this melts in today's 49 degree warm spell! Spring can't come too soon! Sue2

Thanks all! -
The VinylMaster program feels and works very similar to CorelDraw.

I have no experience with SCALP but, the basic VinylMaster software that US Cutter offers now is a decent design/cut program. http://www.uscutter.com/VinylMasterCut-Software-Value Sue2

And on the 9th Day God looked down on his wide eyed children and said they need a companion So God made a Dog God said I need somebody to wake up and give kisses, pee on a tree, sleep all day, wake up again, give more kisses, and then stay up till midnight basking in the glow of the television set. So God made a Dog God said I need somebody willing to sit, then stay, then roll over, then with no ego or complaint dress in hats they do not need and costumes they do not understand. I need somebody who can break wind without a first thought or second thought. Who can chase tails, sniff crotches, fetch sticks and lift spirits with a lick. Somebody no matter what you didn’t do, or couldn’t take, or didn’t win, or couldn’t make will love you without judgment just the same. So God made a Dog God said I need somebody strong enough to pull sleds and find bombs, yet gentle enough to love babies and lead the blind. Somebody who will spend all day on a couch with the resting head and supportive eyes to lift the spirits of a broken heart. So God made a Dog It had to be somebody who would remain patient and loyal even thru loneliness. Somebody to care, cuddle, snuggle and nuzzle, and cheer and charm and snore and slobber and eat the trash and chase the squirrels. Somebody who would bring a family together with selflessness of an open heart. Somebody who would bark, and then pant, and then reply with the rapid wag of tail when their best friend says lets go for a ride in the car. So God made a Dog God said I need somebody who would stand at your side when the world around you collapses. Somebody to lie next to you during the long nights of pain and sorrow when it hurts to move, or talk, or think, or be. Somebody to stand guard, play games, snore for hours, and repeat as needed. Somebody to give you strength when you have none of your own. Somebody to fight when you have no fight left, to hold onto your soul as if it were their favorite toy, playing tug of war to keep you in this world. Somebody to be your companion and guide in this world and the next. Somebody to wait for you on the other side or stand guard in your absence until they can join you for eternity. So God made a Dog

Not all eps files are equal..... Been there, done that...was in heaven when my customer actually HAD an eps file of their logo for some t-shirts....then received a similar eps mess... Skarecrow helped me out on that one. That original is right up there, a true wireframe mess.....for a cutter. Good job Jay! Sue2

specialty vinyls in narrow width and smaller rolls

Does he handle any HTV pieces? -
You tried your best....and so did US Cutter. I'm sure you will be happy with your decision. Sue2

Maybe if you use a UV laminate it will help with the scratching and fading too.

Just a quick look at the "Cheapo Banner" sites yields a retail $30-50 price range PLUS shipping. Your service is checking that the files are proper for printing...we also check spelling, graphics size & correct color mode and make suggestions if we see type too small, etc. AND we often have to convert a WORD, PowerPoint, Excel or Publisher file. I too, seldom print banners in-house anymore (or even make cut vinyl banners)... like Jay says, the wholesale is so reasonable. BUT, knowing WHO to send the file to in order to get a nice quality product is an important part of your service too. Sue2

Depends on how much you value this customer and want their repeat business/referrals. It's a fine line. Be careful how much you "slap" on there. If you're too high, they will go direct to an online source and you get nada. In other words, don't be greedy! Sue2
-
Size? Retail at about $5 a square foot is a good start for a printed banner with finished edge & grommets. Make sure their artwork is usable before quoting. Sue2

I offered to make up some decals for my niece's science fair vehicle... but they didn't want to add any additional weight! :-(
-
Note, I didn't add in the initial cost of the equipment ... even if it's only a Cameo "hobby" cutter. OR any overhead costs (heat, electric, beer)..... Just how much of that .99 is left?
-
.99 AND Free shipping.....let's see, cost of vinyl & transfer paper cost of labor .49 for postage ebay fee Oh, and put that on a credit card................. LOL...Is he even making anything?
-
All the more reason to get the "more business like" equipment. Just my opinion... Sue2

Gremlins.........................

You can be faster...& better!

So, I was ecstatic when my customer actually had an eps file for their logo.....so very few do. They sent it over to me for t-shirts and below is what I saw.... sure was glad I didn't have to vector it! Thought I would just check it out and simplify it for HTV. The second picture is what I saw in wireframe.......... OMG....not exactly what I had expected! Oh, and of course, they wanted it ASAP! Thanks to Skarekrow for pinch hitting and making things right! He did a great job and fast! Sue2

Not bad...I like that little VinylMaster program....it works similar to Corel. The next problem I had with this graphic is they wanted it on a black shirt...... so I had to go through and make a "dark background" version of the design. Sue2
