Looks like you can replace the heating band, for $145 dollars. I guess the question now is if it needs to be replaced or not. If the wear is strictly on the edges of the opeing I'm thinking it shouldn't. I have reached out to the seller to buy it but pay in cash in person as opposed to paying now and picking up later.

Can you replace the rubber in that mug press? It might not be a problem but it looks pretty worn. I've never used a mug press before so I'm not sure if that's normal wear and will work just fine or if it is in needs of replacing. If I get these I'll be selling the mug press as I plan on using cactus wraps and I'd be willing to ship ;-)

If I don't get them for myself I can pick them up for you. If you are patient I can have them in Perrysburgh, OH the weekend of July 19th then they will only be 1.5 hours away from you instead of 3 hours.

Congratulations, always cool to win a contest

I've only done one storefront so far and placed a bid on a second but I heard this advice before and completely agree. If possible get a straight on phot, take good measurements, then do your proof to scale over the actual picture. This helped me out as much as my customer to really get an idea what the finished job will look like and help speed the design along.

In all seriousness I hoped you washed your hands real well. I had a friend who witnessed a dog poop in his yard while being walked and his owner didn't pick it up before walking away. My fiend picked it up and threw it at him. He had a cut on his had and didn't wash well enough and ended up with a staph infection.

That really stinks - sorry, couldn't resist. Time for an eye exam.

Great job!

I'll be giving it a try for sure. My original plan was a light table to avoid gravity but your design is simple enough that I can make it very quickly.

I like it, nice simple design. I've been wanting to build a light table, I already have a 24" x 24" x 1/4" piece of plexi so I'm set there. I like this idea of this solution as I can break it down for storage if I won't need it for a while. I'm not sure of the 45 degree tilt though as seem like you will always have to work against gravity but I'll give it a try.

I just powered on my new heat press for the first time and once it got over 300 degrees it started to smoke and have an odor. As I don't have windows in my little workshop I'm hoping this is just because it's new and will stop eventually? Should I take it to my garage and turn it on for a while to get all the new burnt off? If it matters, this is the one I bought http://sunie.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=42

Thanks for the heads up madhatter. As of right now I plan on doing mugs, bag tags, and cell phone cases and don't expect it will be high volume. If that changes I'll batch the work the best I can and take the operation upstairs to the garage or dining room. If push comes to shove I'll buy a small stand alone air conditioner or make big blocks of ice and put them behind some fans.

Thanks all figured it was just a coating but wanted to confirm. We'll see how much it heats up my room. If it gets too bad I'll bring it upstairs when I have to do long runs.

jmas - I'll have to play with those links a little more but a quick try the images were too small to get a good trace.

The photo isn't good enough for the online font identifier and I found some fonts that are close but not an exact match. Thanks!

Thanks for the help guys, I think I can make the decal I need with your suggestions.

Look great.

That's very cool and could be great for your business, congrats.

Good to know, I can work with this.

What version of Win 7 are you running? I wonder if it matters if you are running Home, Basic, Professional etc... Was it an upgrade install or full version install? Sounds like a clean install which Dakotagrafx said he was told it needs to be in order to work.
-
Thanks for the info dakota...I guess I'll take an old laptop, through XP on it, and use that to print from. That would give me flexability on where I put the printer anyway. Glad I found this out now before I start messing with it. Since I just bought the printer from Conde and they offer free tech support where they will log into your computer and set the printer up maybe I should let them try installing on my Win 7 machine and see what happens for them.

What are the symptoms? Does it just fail and not print at all or is there odd behavior like what SeeJay describes? I'll be installing my 3110 in a week or so and am running Windows 7 64, not sure which version though.

The better way is to get an air compressor and sandblast cabinet. Do some searches, there are plenty of old threads with suggestions and information on etching in a cabinet.

I met up with Scott (Dakatagrafx) as I bought his CE5000-60 from him. I kinda felt obligated as I was the one who notified him of the CE6000 for sale near him. I'm amazed at how quiet this thing is and can't wait to figure it out. I thought I would make a quick cut using SCALP until I figure out Cutmaster or Graphtec Studio ( I still need to learn what each does and what I'll be using). I loaded up a file that I have cut before with my SC cutter and it's 6" wide, for some reason it cut 1/2 size. What amazed me though is that it cut perfectly. With the SC the smallest I could go was 6" as any smaller the stars wouldn't cut very well. Maybe I just didn't have the SC tweaked properly, maybe I was at it's limitation. Bottom line is, look how small the Graphtec cut. Did I mention how quiet this cutter is? Anybody near Cleveland want to by an SC cutter? Steve

Sounds like a good approach
