vinyl bending from being on roll "Problem"

I roll up scraps and save them. but when I want to use them to cut. I just roll the vinyl the opposite direction that it was,for about 5 or 10 minutes. Then it's pretty straight, when you unroll it.

    GraphTec offset problems

where are you actually changing the offset at? On your cutter contol? Or have you down loaded the Graphtec cutting controller and changing the offset there? I have run at 0 from the git go and perfect everytime. I make my changes from the Graphtec cutting controller on my computer. I make all my adjustments Speed/ force, etc. from my Graphtec cutting controller on my computer. and I do not use Clean cut blades. My cutter is 3 years old and I have always used the regular Graphtec blades, and no problems.

    Problems with window 7

your problem with unplugging your cutter all the time is, when you plug it back in, it is assigning it a new com port number. And then it doesn't match the Signblazer software com port number. It is always best to put your plotter on a dedicated computer and leave it there. If possible purchase a cheap laptop/ or desktop just for your cutter. You can still find great bargains on Ebay. And I actually stay with the XP, I don't upgrade. MY backup computer is an XP. it is more stable. I don't use Signblazer, so I can't help you there. It might help, if this computer is your only option, to plug your cutter in the com port while your computer is off. Then maybe it won't jump com ports. But no guarantees on that one. JUst a thought.

    Any help?

try inkscape.org FREE Vectorising in Inkscape SolutionThis walk through explains the basics of vectorising in Inkscape. Step 1) Import your image. Click File>Import, find your file and click OK. Step 2) Select the image, go to the top of the screen, click Path>Trace Bitmap. Step 3) The Trace Bitmap menu will then open. Here you can select how you want your image vectorised and adjust the settings. You can also generate a preview. Once you are happy with the preview click OK and close the Trace Bitmap screen. Step 4) Now you will have your new vector image and the old raster (bitmap, jpeg, gif etc) image stacked on top of each other. Seperate the two and delete the raster. Step 5) Play around with your new vector image!

You did your very "FIRST CUTS" on an actual customer's order? You need to get some cheap vinyl or order some Oracal 651 from US Cutter, and practice, practice, until you do get it right. From start to end, and apply transfer tape to them, you have to practice that also. Make some stuff for yourself and LEARN the job first before taking any more orders. ....ok, sounds like you haven't even learned your machine yet. BUT your taking orders? Not a good way to start. You cannot use the same "FORCE"/OR SPEED", with every material or design. Materials are different thicknesses. and have to be adjusted according to the material thickness. THat is why you do a test cut first, before doing an actual job. Have you read the newbie manual yet. ? Or read your user manual? and from what I have already read, it would not have mattered if you actually got the Oracal vinyl or any other good vinyl. Which GMI vinyl is. It would have been the same problem with cutting and weeding. because you do not know how to properly run your machine and adjust for different vinyl thicknesses. Vinyl thickness is in mm, and being a few mm's off, can and will ruin your whole job. You also have to make sure your blade offset is correct. Get that down first, before you take another order, practice, practice, or word will get around not to hire you, because you can't deliver, or your quality is terrible. You cannot make a quality product in this business, without actually practicing FIRST. Get some experience before taking another order. This is a SKILLED job. and skill comes from experience. You have to learn to fine tune your cutter into the job you are doing at the time. Which may not be just like the next job you do. "if they did not carry the product - they should have said so - and if I still messed up the material - it would have totally been my fault." Sorry, to be so harsh.... but it WAS your fault.

"they sent an unknown shirt vinly attempted to use it for a church sign with awful results." Why are you using shirt vinyl for a sign? Am I misreading this? or is it a sign on a Church shirt? my 2c. first off GMI is not junk vinyl.. It is very good vinyl. I use it very well. Sounds like you didn't do a test cut for blade depth first. Or really what was the problem with it? Why did you have so much trouble weeding? I don't even see where they sell Oracal brand on this site. Show me. This is their Sign vinyl and it is GMI. If in fact, this is the store you are talking about. You really need to practice with doing different items, before taking an order. http://www.heattransferwarehouse.com/SIGNVINYL_CV300.html

    simple question about work

depending on what you are wanting to cut. I keep 15" 24" and 30"wide rolls. all for different purposes. But I sell a large variety of items. And they all will work on a 30"-36" machine. you can also find some suppliers sell 12" wide rolls. You can purchase 15" 24" and 30" from Uscutter.

    new guy

You may have to repurchase it. Excuse me , but when people usually say they have a KEY GEN, it is cracked software. Legal software comes with a USB Dongle. There is no file you can find legally that I know of. You may be able to contact Flexi and give them your license number. Or look real hard for your disc. It should be in a Flexi case with your paperwork and password. I would hope, as it is very important and part of your tools. You need to keep all that stuff together.

Looking to Purchase a New Vinyl Cutter

Flexi software is cutting software, THere are several different versions. Different levels, more options, more money. You can actually download inkscape.org which is FREE and use it for design software and cut with Flexistarter 10 Signblazer is just another option. It is a free design and cutting software which is out of business and is a permanent trial version. Corel on it's own, is not a cutting software. just design.

Looking to Purchase a New Vinyl Cutter

You could download the Signblazer, right here on forum, which is FREE unlimited trial. And work with that. It will work with most vinyl cutters. I own a Graphtec and it is a great cutter. And you will regret it, if you don't get a stand. Graphtecs come with the stand. And the tracking and detailed work is excellent. It also automatically contour cuts. I have had my cutter for almost 3 years, bought new and never a machine problem. It all depends on your budget. Get the best that you can afford. The reviews on a Copam are very good, also, but no contour cutting, unless you purchase Flexi starter 10 with contour cutting. runs about $130. THey were running a special on US CUTTER. maybe still do for cheaper. Corel is design software, not cutting software. You have to have a cutting software to import your design into, to send to the cutter. Signblazer is design and cutting software together.
