    Dead Machine

this is from another post. You don't state what OS you are using, so maybe this will help ,maybe not. this is for Windows 7 problem.. here is the link for the whole post Now for the solution: If you are experiencing the dreaded uscutter under unknown device in device manager have no fear. This is all assuming that you have already tried the normal steps and installed the FTDI driver of course. First download this driver HERE and extract to a folder in a spot you will be able to find later. Then go to control panel, devices and printers and choose to add new printer. Add local and use the existing port usb0001. When it is looking for the driver choose have disk and navigate to the directory you saved. It will tell you that this driver is not digitally signed but this is ok. Now launch SB and create a square. Click cutter and then setup. Choose your cutter model and under ports choose usb0001. OK out of that and then choose cut and cut tile. This has worked on both Windows 7 64 bit business as well as Windows 7 32 bit ultimate and I was able to duplicate no problem. Simple solution? Yes! Does it work? It did for me! keywords: windows seven com port usb device not found driver 64bit mh-721 mh721
  2. probably because UScutter changed their website. ??? have you looked thru here? http://support.uscutter.com/
  3. actually I NEVER run past 5-6 on speed. I get perfect cuts every time. In over 3 years of cutting, I have never had my cutter past 6 on speed. And when I'm cutting small text, I use 2 or 3... I guess I'm not in that big of hurry... Everything cuts smooth, And I never have problems cutting...
  4. what speed are you running your cutter at? Personally, I never use weeding lines on large graphics or even small graphics... and I cut graphics up to 16ft long sometimes and they are perfect. ....just small text is all I use weed lines on.. occasionally.

    New Decal

I don't do shirts, or anything else like that. I just keep stepping up the niche' I have. I have thousands of designs, that I just keep switching around and see what sells.

    New Decal

I started my business for 14 months with a 30" Seiki, cutting the same designs I do now. You need to find a niche'. Or some really great designs. My sales are mostly full side vehicle decals. 8-12 ft long. left and right. I do very little text. and all I do is vinyl.

    Debating new cutter VERY soon.

I know I love mine, FC7000MK-30 that is. It's a very well built, heavy machine. even though it cuts 30" the machine is 49.5" wide. I do have the media basket on mine, That's what sold me over the Roland, and the stand are standard.

    New Decal

I am a full time EBAY store only. a couple classified ads on the side. It supports me very well. I have a niche' in vehicle graphics. People love the detailed unusual ones. My 8ft table came from Menards. You probably have them up there. Menards started in Wisconsin area I believe. I just love that store. Great work from you and your wife. Sorry, I have permission to make the wizard, he was purchased from a graphic designer I know. It takes alot of memory in a cutter, to cut a design like that. I always cut things in no hurry. Mine was cut on a Graphtec. In probably about 15-20 minutes.

    New Decal

Hey SeeJay, you need to step it up... on that weeding time. Your losing money, BUT great job. I can do 2 of these in about 70-80 minutes. ..each 77" x 20" left and right. These put you thru your paces. I use a needle, pointed tweezers and an exacto knife.

County fair, decal vendor, copyrighted logos...

how many cars/vehicles do you see speeding everyday?? Is the war on drugs over? Can't catch them all.... but someday they will get caught. It's just a matter of time. Somebody is always bucking against the law to make a buck... go on EBAY, which is world wide and you will see tons. As fast as they shut them down, 10-20 or more stores are opening up with selling copyright infringements.

Can Anyone Vectorize This For Me Please ...

I'll answer it, seeing as how Mark is not on right now.... FREE software. www.inkscape.org Vectorising in Inkscape Posted by Levi Hartzog on 16 January 2009 02:31 PM This walk through explains the basics of vectorising in Inkscape. Step 1) Import your image. Click File>Import, find your file and click OK. Step 2) Select the image, go to the top of the screen, click Path>Trace Bitmap. Step 3) The Trace Bitmap menu will then open. Here you can select how you want your image vectorised and adjust the settings. You can also generate a preview. Once you are happy with the preview click OK and close the Trace Bitmap screen. Step 4) Now you will have your new vector image and the old raster (bitmap, jpeg, gif etc) image stacked on top of each other. Seperate the two and delete the raster. Step 5) Play around with your new vector image!

    baseball breaking glass

The reason it is expensive: is because the work is already done and design is cut ready. The design is licensed, and they are allowing you the use of the licensed design.

new 34" in alaska had for a week cant cut a thing

another person was having the same problem with windows 7, maybe his solution will work for you: this is from his post I personally don't have the cutter or windows 7, just trying to help you. :Here is the whole thread for links if you are experiencing the dreaded uscutter under unknown device in device manager have no fear. Offset doesn't work: PCut CTN630 with SignCut Prod Pro

did you try changing the blade? or adjusting the blade? Make sure there is no vinyl in the blade holder. Alot of people use a 60 degree blade for detailed work, or even a drop of sewing machine oil/3-1 oil, in the blade holder helps. Slow the cutter speed down for small text.

Offset doesn't work: PCut CTN630 with SignCut Prod Pro

There is no offset with a pen. You have to check with a blade in, that spins and drags behind. Do several attempts with your blade in at different settings. Then see what the difference is. Make sure there is no vinyl in the blade holder and the blade spins freely.

my cutter just stops in the middle of a cut

from UScutter support http://support.uscutter.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/57/1/why-did-my-cutter-just-stop-in-the-middle-of-my-cut Why did my cutter just stop in the middle of my cut? Posted by Jaster Nyasulu on 24 February 2011 11:14 AM There are a few possible answers for this question 1.) Static Electrical Interference; 2.) Com port settings not correct and/or 3.) Memory overload. 1.) - Static interference can cause your cutter to fail on longer cuts and can potentially cause your motherboard to fail. You'll know static is interfering with your cutter by performing this simple test: Disconnect the cutter from the PC and turn it off for 20 seconds, then reconnect and power on. Remove the vinyl and blade holder from the machine and run a cut job that would typically fail, using only your pen and some paper (or just the vinyl backing). If it completes, run it 2 or 3 more times. Did it fail? If yes, probably not static. Finally, (still w/no blade) run the same job the same way WITH the vinyl. Does it fail? If yes, Static. Vinyl is an insulator which is negatively charged; this is where the problem begins. During the process of simply un-rolling, your vinyl gets a strong negative charge. Because it's an insulator you cant simply wipe off the charge (as with anti-static wipes) unless you cut the sheet from the roll. The other point where this is an issue is when the media feeds out of the machine and lays on the floor (ESPECIALLY CARPET!) and then the cutter rolls it back in. Again the peeling away motion creates more static. Grounding the cutter ( or "bonding" to be precise) is your best option for helping to discharge the static that has built up on the cutter. Grounding can be done by running a copper wire/speaker wire from a screw on the base of the cutter to a point on the stand. Contact points should be metal on metal, which might require you to scrape away some paint. You can also try a humidifier to dampen the amount of environmental Static Electricity in the immediate area. The only real solutions: A) Ground the machine. B.) Get antistatic spray. You can find it at most computer or electronics stores or by simply doing a Bing search. 2.) Note: This only applies to cutters that DO NOT install as printers, ie: Creation, Refine, Copam etc. When you plug your cutter into your computer, the computer gives it a Com port number (if you're using a Windows operating system.) That Com port also has specific settings. Both the Com port and com port settings need to be correct and match in your cutting software and the computer's Device Manager. Open your computer's device manager and locate the "Ports" listing. If you have the cutter connected to the computer via USB and turned on you should see a listing something to the effect of "USB serial port (com3)". You can know for sure which USB com port the computer has assigned to the cutter by disconnecting it from the computer. The com port will disappear. Plug it back in and you'll see the com port reappear. Right click on that com port and select "Properties", then "Port Settings". The values should be 9600,8,None,1, Hardware, and should also be reflected in your Cutting software setup. Once you have verified that these are correct in the Device Manager, you can also click on "advanced settings" (depending on your O/S) and check the box to enable serial printing. This will give the cutter more time to process data that the computer is sending it. 3.) - The processor on the MH cutters specifically were not designed to effectively handle the data required for cuts beyond 72 inches in length. Additionally, the onboard memory on an MH Cutter is only 8 megabits. This is a very miniscule amount and can be easily overloaded by a large image file. The only real solution is to upgrade the memory by purchasing a 4 megabyte chip from UScutter.com from forum users: some people also use dryer sheets and wipe their vinyl to get rid of the static. also using a usb to serial cable helps. such as a Keyspan adapter. That is the brand name.

    pcut or contour cutter?

the laser pointer and the pcut ARE the same machine. Just the laser pointer has the laser... obviously
  23. I couldn't find the carrier sheets online in Walmart. But Target shows them, make sure you get that iron on stuff they used on the fabric. http://www.target.com/s?keywords=supplies_cricut&LNM=Supplies%20cricut&CPNG=stationery%20scrapbooking&AFID=google&LID=13p614436&adgroup=stationery%20scrapbooking5&MT=broad&KID=_kenshoo_clickid_&ref=tgt_adv_XS000000
  24. my thoughts are: why wouldn't it work. ? Cricut uses a Roland blade. You can purchase the carrier sheets(sticky board thing) at Walmart. or wherever they sell the Cricuts. Take a piece of scrap fabric and try it. What have you got to lose?
