when I had my copam I would occasionally put some 3 in 1 oil in the blade holder when cleaning it. not sure if this helps or not but did some small work with the copam before going graphtec -

for the effort, time and space it would take I would look at the wide copam or a wide graphtec and be done with it. No more accuracy problems and if you find one used probably cheaper in the long run -

not for the platen but to protect the heating unit I purchased an oversize teflon sheet and hold it in place with 4 Neodymium magnets I found on ebay - works great! -

to cut products without backing you will need a carrier sheet -t hey sell them for cricuts and graphtecs I know. as always I would recomment the cleancut blades for longest life
