The bottom one the vinyl?
-
Yeah, seems like you're really paying for the ease of use. Has lots of pre-orders so clearly their marketing is doing well.

Wildgoose, in regards to the odd sizes of the Chinese cutters. I believe they are measuring the space between the sides, not the actual cutting area. So while you could fit a 28" piece of material in the machine, about 3.5" of that is taken up by the cutter head and about half an inch with the holder so you really can only cut 24" wide material. But advertising it as a 28" cutter sounds better than a 24" cutter.

SCAL3P Anyone know how to add chevrons to a block letter?
darcshadow replied to wagoner334's topic in General Help
Use the search function above and put in Chevron Patterned Font -
Inkscape is pretty good and free design program. I do most my work in it then copy and paste into SB to do the cut.

SignBlazer to VinylMaster LTR Feature Questions
darcshadow replied to Camel's topic in VinylMaster CUT, LTR, PRO & DSR
xpaperman, the append option in SB is a little check box on the right side of the window when selecting a file to open. -
Bit of OCD kicking in on me, is there a reason it's not lined up vertically? Stripes on the decal not lines up with stripes on the car.

Carry bags for chairs?

All of the above statements should have worked. The drag/fill option can be turned off so it could be possible that is the case but the copy/paste option should still have worked. Personally I would of froze the table at the second line and edited the formula in the H, I , and J column with an if statement so that it appears blank rather than 0. You could also use conditional formatting so that the cells are all white until data is entered into the row. This is all just aesthetics and personal preference though,

Why would you charge to do this job?
darcshadow replied to SurberSigns's topic in General discussion
Shouldn't need the scraper, if the vinyl is static cling, and they shop is going to remove it for him. To answer the topic title, "Why would you charge to do this job?" Cause I don't work for free. -
Is it just me, or does that second design above look like a goblin peaking over the headboard?
-
Depending on how elaborate you're wanting, tracing a photo of a real headboard wouldn't be too hard, or get several images and use them as a guide to design you're own.

Also, FYI, glass bead media is more targeted at stripping paint or cleaning up rust. Trying to use glass to etch glass is not an efficient method. For etching you want a media that is harder than the item being etched.

Price Needed For Wrapping A Bucket
darcshadow replied to racert25's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Are you truly wanting a full wrap? Or just a solid color bucket with a decal on it? You can get solid colored buckets pretty cheap from various places and then put a decal on them yourself saving quite a bit of money. As Moody said, the decal would not be the costly item, it's the time involved doing a full wrap. -
I know you said the fill option is not checked, but have you tried checking it to see if it changes anything?

Graphtec Ce5000-60 Freezes
darcshadow replied to gcextreme's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
USB 3.0 and 2.0 cables are not the same and are not interchangeable. -
So if the Silhouette doesn't work with his cutter, what he would need is a way to convert Silhouette files to something Scalp can use. Looking around on the web it does not appear that is an option either. Most of the conversion methods I'm finding are simply saving the work as a raster graphic and then tracing it with a different vector program. Not the best solution, but it is an option in a pinch.

Found a couple of other forums where a water jet cutter was recommended and a couple where routers were used. Although that was on a wood working page where they deal with routers all the time. Sounds like the key to using a router was the correct bit, a variable speed router and going the correct direction.

Bandsaw might work for those shapes, but I would image the edges will be left a little ruff.

How can I stop my Graphtec cutter from lifting on every line segment?
darcshadow replied to bigmark1972's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
In Inkscape the only way I know of doing it would be to select two line end points and merge them, which works well if the nodes on top of each other, or join them which can require some tweaking because it joins the two points with a straight line. -

darcshadow replied to bigmark1972's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
Take a close look at the nodes in question where the blade is lifting. I've seen some designs where there are actually two nodes directly on top of each other so it looks like complete path but there is actually a break in the path. -
Both have trial options, perhaps you can convince them to let you download and install both to evaluate.
