Pixel, the problem is not the scale of the drawing, it's the drawing page was not set when opening the file, either EPS or SVG. Jb, That's what I ended up doing, but since I didn't remember the exact size, it was not a standard size, I had to download and install a portable version of Inkscape onto my thumbdrive so I could open the original file and figure out what the page size was.

Just a comment on the design, that tree looks kind of weird. Is that the look you wanted, or were you going for a yellow outline of the green tree?

What do you mean by dust/dirt IN them?

Using vinyl as printer for contour cutting
darcshadow replied to NickP's topic in General discussion
You can also rework the design so that it works in other colors. Here is an example. The original graphic was black, but it doesn't look right in light colors since the black is also acting as shadows. Don't know what your image is, but you might be able to rework it in a similar fashion. Something else to keep in mind if you do the black vinyl on white and then contour cut it. Pulling the application tape off the black once it's on the white will cause bubbles and headaches so you'll want to leave it on. Which then means you'll need to adjust your blade depth and pressure to cut through the application tape as well as the white vinyl. Might also make pulling the application tape off when installing the decal a bit harder. -
Thanks, I did the file open thing but it defaulted to the 8.5x11 page size. I'll double check it again next time I go and make sure I didn't already have a document open.

I'm unfamiliar with VinylMaster but if the colors that are disappearing are light colors, that could be the issue. Are there any settings in the trace menu to adjust what the program considers an edge? I use Inkscape, and there are several things that can be adjusted that dramatically change the auto trace results. Can you post a shot of the original image you're trying to trace?

Yes, the vinyl that works in the circuit will work on a larger cutter.

Take a photo of the part from as straight on as possible, import that image into your design software of choice and overlay your design on it.

A clear coat of epoxy over the design would probably be about the only way to get anything to last very long.

You only use one or the other, USB or serial, not both.

One word of caution with the dingbat fonts, they are usually pretty low quality and when you blow them up to 3" or 4" you start to notice. Don't get me wrong, some are great but they are not all created equal.

Probably need a new z-axis chip. If you purchased it new it should still be covered under warranty.

No problem, happy to help.

Are you putting the rollers through the center of the rolls? That's not how the stand is intended to be used. The roll sits between the two rollers. This way the vinyl is making contact with the metal rollers and the static can then dissipate through the rollers, to the stand, and onto ground.

I know the font in this image has been customized with the streaks, but does anyone recognize the base font that was modified?

Two options really, take a photo of the artwork from as straight on an angle as possible and include a size reference in the shot. Then pull the image into your vector software of choice and trace the image. Option two, get some knife tape and use it to cut the vinyl on the RV.

Regarding static, do you have a stand the vinyl sits on? If so, make an electrical connection between the stand and a ground point on the cutter. If you're not using a stand, you can attach a chain, or metal wire to the cutter and have it hang down and drag on the vinyl. Just be sure to position it so that it doesn't get pulled up into the cutter.

The manual for the MH says it can only handle a max of 6' long cuts, might be you're trying to long of a cut, although I never understood why there would be a length limit.

Like the new design, simple yet classy. One comment though the Diodes uses in the logo are not Light Emitting Diodes. Not something most people would noticed but an electrical engineer will. The symbol for an LED is the diode symbol with two little arrows pointing away from the triangle portion of the design.

Translucent vinyl is semi-see through so the color of the car will affect the color of the vinyl. I'd poll the customers asking for it and let them know that type of vinyl is a higher cost and if they'd be willing to pay. If enough say they would then bite the bullet and place the order.

Without looking at your computer I can't help much, but I can tell you the USB connections is not a true USB connections. It is a connection to a cheap USB-to-Serial card in the cutter. You should find an entry in your devices page that lists the usb-to-serial and from there you can set which comm port it is. The other options would be, 1) the best option, if you have a serial port use it, option 2), buy a serial card and use it, option 3), buy a keyspan usb to serial adapter and use it.

Nope, what you're doing is the only way to do it.
