The compressor is a small 2hp, 8gal 125psi compressor. I tried 20, 40, and 60psi with the HF gun. 60 did get me a little etching but nothing great. The more I think about it the more I think the nozzle maybe the main problem. It's a pretty large nozzle, probably 3/8" and worn pretty good. This is not the exact gun I have, but pretty close, http://www.harborfreight.com/21-oz-hopper-gravity-feed-spot-blaster-gun-95793.html

Another question, what sort of gun are you using? I have a cheap harbor frieght gun a guy gave me for free that I tried out last night for the first time. It's clearly not ment for this type of work, although a new nozzle on it would probably help. I played around with the air erasor I have and while I was able to get a deep etch it wasn't very uniform and took WAY to long. Doesn't look like carving is in my future with my current equipement.

Maybe offer up the correct POW/MIA image and see if she'd be interested in that.

About how deep of an etch would you say you have to do in order to get the light effect to work well?

The guy arrested wasn't making the stuff, he was just selling it. The article said he use to sell official stuff then gradually started selling fakes and eventually was selling only fakes.

LHFSofiaScript looks pretty close

Patience, time, and practice on the vector art.

I'm sure you'll only do it once. ha!

Really depends on what you're after. Both have their advantages. I like the look I get with blasting better than the cream. The cream is a good introduction to the art, and several people use nothing but the cream. Really just a matter of preference. Now if you want to do something deeper you'll have to go the blast route.

Actually, since you're talking about filtered light there's the chance that no light would pass through a double layer. For example, if you have a red layer, all but red light is filtered, now if you have a green layer on top of that all but green is filtered. Since only red light is making it to the green layer, no light will be passed through. That's the theory anyway, in reality some light will pass through, but not much.

http://www.whatfontis.com/ comes back with both the fonts identified by skarekrow.

Just did some google searching and it depends. Some is ok, because of them being a public personality, but others are not. However, it's not worth it from a political standpoint to try and do anything about it. There was a thing in 09 about Obama's lawyers trying to make some laws to control his image better but I didn't see what actually became of it.

Even some paper taped to the back side would do the job.

Would Like All My AI & EPS Files To Be SVG...
darcshadow replied to Kelleybell123's topic in Sure Cuts A Lot Pro
Found this on another forum and this if you have Ghostscript and are comfortable with building batch files. (the loop example file appears to be writen for UNIX/LINUX but shouldn't be hard to make a DOS version) gs -dEPSFitPage -sDEVICE=svg -sOutputFile=outfile.svg infile.eps quit.ps; #!/bin/sh for file in *.eps do gs -dEPSFitPage -sDEVICE=svg -sOutputFile=$file.svg "$file" quit.ps; done -
Problem after problem

Still sounds a lot like static. You using USB or serial? Everyone says serial is the better way to go. I've not had any problems with USB but it's worth a shot. -
I hate the fact that IE is integrated with Windows and unable to be removed. Because of that I use it since I also hate the idea of wasting drive space installing a web browser that I don't actually need.

Maybe if you post some screen shots of what you are seeing.

If you don't mind some consstructive criticism. The wording at the top and bottom look too bold compaired to the original and the letters in the 1901 OLDS should be more straight up and down. Looks cool though.

Are you wanting the circle cut out of the diamond? If so, when you do cut, select both colors, the diamond and the circle in the diamond will be cut at the same time.

If you're bounding a png image it will just be a box. You want to vector the image first the draw an outline of the stop sign itself.

Not exactly sure what you mean. But with the node tool you can add, remove, move, and pretty much do anything. It may not be as intutive as simply drawing but you have the tools to create what ever you can imagine. That being said, SB, is not the best tool for design. If you want to stick to free software you can give Inkscape a try, or if you want to spend some money there are lots of great vector drawing/design software out there.

Tips for installing 631, doesn't want to stick to wall

Could be the type of paint. There was a thread on here a while ago about some of the stain restant paints and problems with the vinyl sticking. -
I forget the exact working of the check box, but check the box that says something like preserve aspect ratio. It's at the center bottom of the page when you have an object selected.

Cardboard won't help. If it is static, the static is building up on the vinyl and then discharging through the blade and into the plotter. If you ground the stand to the plotter, or any ground really, when you place the roll of vinyl on the stand it will discharge into the stand and protect the plotter.

Typeface is the overall design of the characters. Font is the collection of characters and specifies the boldness, kerning, and all the other misc. settings. The term font is typically used incorrectly when in fact the person is refering to typeface.
