AluminunOxide is a pretty good all around media and not too expensive. As for grit level, that's up to you and the look you want. I like 120, gives a nice etch with a bit of sparkle to it.

0.48 portable. Love it, throw it on a thumb drive and use it anywhere.

Need help on how to trace this pencil drawing to a vector.
darcshadow replied to Topper's topic in Inkscape
Sounds like you just needed to weld/union the paths. -
Technically they are not giving it. You are supose to have purchased a legal copy in the past before you download the one they have on their web page. But they don't require you to provide any information to verify you have a legal old copy.

I'm unfamiliar with this tool, but if each decal is about 5" square then then that would be the 0.21sq.ft. of material and 54 cents for materal cost would be about right for a signel decal. If each decal is about 3.5" square then all 8 would fit inside the 0.21sq.ft. of material and 54 cents would be the cost of materal for all 8 decals. So the question is, how big is the actual decal?

Need Something To View AI Files In Windows 8

The folder shouldn't matter. Actually the x86 folder is the one where 32bit programs are typically installed on a 64-bit machine. -
Need Something To View AI Files In Windows 8
darcshadow replied to Kelleybell123's topic in Adobe Illustrator
Ghostscrip is a program that Inkscape, and other software, use to convert post script files among other things. In the case of inkscape, you have to download and install ghostscript, then go in and edit some environment variables so that Inkscape knows where ghostscript is. If this is what you are needing ghostscript for a quick google search should find you the instructions on how to do this. For getthing XP software to run under Win 7 or 8 you can try installing a virtual Windows XP system. Win 7 Pro has this as an option from Microsoft, Win 8 you will need a virtual machine software. Here is a link to a few programs and instructions on how to set up XP under Win 8. http://www.howtogeek.com/171395/how-to-get-windows-xp-mode-on-windows-8/ -
There are lots of double sided tape options of various stickyness. If you want it to stay and not be removed double sided carpet tape will hold it. Might also look into those Command Media velcro things. They seem to hold pretty good and I belive they have a weight limit rating on the package.

This is the highest res image I've been able to find so far, should trace pretty well but is going to need a good bit of cleanup, https://www.flickr.com/photos/27366217@N05/4110611868/sizes/o/in/photostream/

Do a google search for Jeep Golden Eagle Decal. I have not been able to find a vector yet but there are some higher res images you could use to get a good trace from.
-
Depending on the texture it will usually sitck. The type of paint seems to cause more problems for people. The new stain resistant paints prevent things from sticking to them. If you're unsure just take a small scrap piece and stick it up and see how well it stays.

631 will stick to 631, well enough that you won't be able to seperate them.
-
Vinyl on vinyl though might be an issue. I know 631 is hard to remove from 651.

Suggestions on the best way to do this QR Code.. Vinyl or Emblem?
darcshadow replied to craigola's topic in General discussion
Just currious, what are you going to have the QR code "say"? Personally I dislike QR codes and would rather have something human readable. -
Is static electricity causing write port error and other mysterious problems?
darcshadow replied to EF8's topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Discussion
While technically that is true, the cutter essentially has a USB to serial converter built in so you're not actually gaining anything in speed, you're still limited to what ever the serial speed the internal converter is running at. -
Google works in most cases. Seeing how it is the logo of company it is at the very least copyrighted and most likely a Trademark.

If it's going to be on a home network and not connected to the internet why bother dumping XP?

What is your favorite thing to do while working?
darcshadow replied to MadHatterGraphix's topic in Off Topic Section
Never heard that one. Was it your parents that told you that just to get you to stop whistling? ha! -
Sorry, I didn't word that well. Once you do the trace and turn it into a vector you should be able to do a copy/paste of the vector image. The Save As should also get you what you need. As for the tracing, this looks to be a simple enough one to learn on for doing a manual trace/recreation.
-
Sounds like you're on the right track. What format are you saving the vector file in? Another option would be to open the image in inkscape, do a select all and copy, then paste into SCAP.
-
I'd say they've been running it for at least the last 30 years.
-
Same here, put some scotch tape on it and haven't had a problem since.
