You should be able to get a decent trace after you edit the image in say photoshop or any one of the free online photo editing web pages. There are tons of examples and how to's all over this forum.

Here's one. Lilac.svg

If you want to match the swoosh, just take a good hi-res photo of it when you get it then do a trace with your program of choice. You'll have to clean it up some but shouldn't be too much work. Or here's some random stripes I found on the forums and pulled into a single file. Side Stripes.svg

If they don't care to match exactly I'd just look around for any stripe package and find something that looks good. Personally, that design looks like something from the 90's to me.

Clearly a norther crew. Southern boys would of grabbed a lasso and roped the thing.

You'd think a forum called what ever 101 would be open to beginners. ha!

Would depend on the environmental conditions of your basement.

This would be a good design to practice redrawing manually as well.

Inkscape by default can not open EPS files. You need a helper program called Ghostscript. A google search will find it for you along with instructions for installing it and configuring Inkscape and your computer to use it.

EE here. The static build up has nothing to do with the floor or the physical room the plotter is in, it is from the vinyl itself, you can feel it some times, the hair on your arm will raise when near the vinyl just after you unroll it. You can even hear it some times as you unroll it. As dakotagrafx said, it has to go someplace and if the only discharge point it through the knife and cutter head it will likely fry something. Technically the stand doesn't need to be grounded, just the vinyl. Since most stands are metal and the vinyl is making contact with the metal, grounding the stand is the easiest option.

Try this one. I opened an saved with Inkscape so I don't know for sure that your version of AI can open it but I believe it should be able to. PBZ_logo_08_1.eps

MS's counting doesn't make any sense. I don't even remember ever hearing of Windows1-3. Windows 3.11 was the first one I knew about. Then there was NT, NT 3.5, 95, NT 4, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, Win 7, and now Win 8. By my count they should be up to Windows 13 by now and I probably misssed a few versions.

Inkscape on it's own can not open .ai files. Through the use of Ghostscript it can open so .ai files but not all. Depends on howt he file was originally saved and if there are any features being used that Inkscape does not support. I don't know anything about SCALP but I would guess it suffers from the same type of problem and may be able to open some, but not all .ai files. If you can open with Corel Draw, do that then save it as an EPS or what ever format you like that can be opend with SCALP

Here's one I just made up. flat soccer ball.svg

I haven't played with Win 8, but can't you set it up to boot and work and look pretty much just like Win 7?

Should try Los Angeles some time. You can actually get a ticket for "impeding the flow of traffic" while going the speed limit.

Since the claw is clearly created by someone else and not the kid that made the unit logo I'd think there may be some copyright issues unless he contacted the owner of the claw and got permission to use it.

Nice video but I still have no idea how to hang the window film. ha! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikMrj4HRNiU

Seems like that one would only work a couple of times before the CC company wised up or canceled their card.

So many similar fonts...can anyone ID this exactly?
darcshadow replied to BCOJdecals's topic in Fonts
I believe it is Amatic SC Bold http://www.ffonts.net/Amatic-SC-Bold.font -
SB has it's own font folder that it pulls from as well, I forget where it's located but it's somewhere under the SignBlazer install folder.

Draw a box, put your text in it then when you weed it pull the text out.

moving from a Sillhouette Cameo...have a design question
darcshadow replied to AngelRidge's topic in Sure Cuts A Lot Pro
I don't have the programs, but a google search shows that it should be possible with the design edition version 1.9 or 2.0 to save them off as SVG files. When you save your files do you have any save as option outside of a .studio file? Something else you might try, just do a copy and paste from one program to another. I know it works well going from Inkscape to SignBlazer, but don't know about your two programs. -

Tell her to go back to FL and get it then if she doesn't like your price. -
For any that toy with copyright

The fine was from the criminal case, wouldn't the various Corporations that their trademark were violated be able to sue, and since he's already plead guilty I'd think they'd have a pretty easy case.
