Old School sign guy with new SC & lost!
slice&dice replied to point blank design's topic in Introductions
Let us know how everything works out for you. By the way, to bypass any issues with a USB connection, my solution was to just buy a cheapo older Dell desktop with the serial port, and dedicate that machine to my SC. Cost for the Dell (with monitor, keyboard and mouse) was $75. Haven't had even the slightest glitch, in hundreds of cuts. -
Seems to me (looking at my Oracal color-swatch book) you can go with 651 Intermediate color Lt.Orange 036. This type of exact logo-color matching is the kind of thing which is best done with Pantone Matching System, but just eyeballing it, I think you wil lbe OK with the 036.

Where are we at in this thread? 1. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=mac+windows+emulation+software+free 2. USB should work on the SC, anyway that is not related to the crash of the SignCut software. 3. Flexi (starter) is functional on the mac and gets the cutter to operate, is that right? 4. Not all "art" from Illustrator is cuttable. -
Old School sign guy with new SC & lost!

Hi Jonathan, glad to have you here. Blade depth will be very, very shallow, almost imperceptibly sticking out of the holder. I have my SC set for 5g. Does your macintosh run in Windows emulation mode? If so, try SignBlazer (The SC is a Liyu machine, so use that driver). -
Ahhhhhhh, that reminds me, it's not really necessary to actually BURN the installer onto a physical CD-R. Magic-ISO is the answer, which allows mounting a virtual CDdisc onto the desktop. Just get MagicISO onto your computer first, and then go ahead and open the SignBlazer installers.

Rather than regular banner material (shown under your Thermoflex in the photo), have you tried the US CUTTER product called 'InstaBanner' ? http://www.uscutter.com/index/page/product/product_id/1602/category_id/27/product_name/GreenStar+Two+Color+Vinyl+Banner%2C+24%22+x+25+Yard+Roll

^^^ thread bump ^^^^ Try this -- download and install THIS version, with the crack (eliminates the Trial Version screen) http://www.mystat.com/Signblazer.zip Always restart your computer after an installation of a new program. Then, run that SignBlazer UK version, go into Cutter setup and choose "RedSail" RS800-c driver for MH machines and "LiYu" for SC cutters.

Those aren't dimensional (routed) letters? Cool. (Just for everyone's edification, the mounting hardware posts are called "Stand-offs") That's one expensive piece of acrylic!

Are you 100% positive that the blade holder is allowing the blade to spin freely? Sometimes a very miniscule piece of vinyl can get hung up inside that. It happened to me last week, and was virtually invisible, but sure enough, it was keeping my blade from moving around correctly.

This sounds more like a cutter-blade adjustment issue.

mh721 cutting through design
slice&dice replied to egobuster1's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
You'll probably be fine from here on.... Reinstalling is always a good method to clean things up which became corrupted somehow. -
The actual answer is this -- Type your words. Use a color other than black. Select them. Choose Expand/Outline/Inline from the Manipulate menu. Set your thickness parameters (usually you will have NO OFFSET) Now, cut the two different items (outline, and then the letters) After weeding, you can tape the letters with clear transfer tape, peel 'em away from their backing paper and carefully place (lining them up) within the outline, squeegee the whole thing, and there you have it, a die-cut layered decal, all taped and ready for application.

USB> Serial vs Installing Serial ports in PC
slice&dice replied to tweetlbug's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
This is like the proverbial question --- "Do pirates say Aarrrrrrgggh, Matey?" -
Yep, that's exactly what's pictured ----- I know because I got the same colors with my SC, including the lime green and pink, which I am still wondering how to utilize.

Sound off! Lets get to know eachother from a cutter standpoint!
slice&dice replied to tlzimmerman's topic in Off Topic Section
Drove by an empty garage/storefront one day, and it seemed to be a good spot to open a sign-making studio. Without much capital, I ordered the cheapest US CUTTER equipment, the MH871 (34") and found a laptop on craigslist for $80. Been operating this little sign store ever since, designing everything on SignBlazer, and slicing&dicing my way along... -
Printer/Cutter for round decals/stickers
slice&dice replied to uscolorprint's topic in Pre-sale questions
The SC cutter will do that. This cutter is offered for $279 (24") at the US CUTTER website. -
Good afternoon to you, and welcome.
-
Bingo !!! I think that's EXACTLY what he wanted.
-
You mean the RedSail? or the downloaded driver from USC? Either way, you're welcome, it's always nice to know that things are running smoothly at your end due in part to our efforts here.

Hola. Quick piece of advice -- save the box, it makes a good catch-box for long pieces of vinyl that roll out the front of your machine, and keeps the vinyl from going onto the floor. I made a media-basket for mine, since the box looked a bit tacky. Instructions for assembling such a home-made thing are found in the following forum -
