I will say, things appear to be under control with this system, and the Spam-O-Rama has been curtailed. Good news.

You are welcome, hopefully setting the ORIGIN solves the problem. By the way, the laser is not something you will ever use on the MH cutter.

Think of it this way: Take a look at the distance between the cutting blade and the upper pinch-rollers that hold the vinyl in place (as the lower grit roller spins) You only have 2" clearance there, so the vinyl must be at least 2" or it will not be held in place by the pinch-rollers. Now, the suggestion I have for you is to place the vinyl in there, and then use the controls on the machine face to set ORIGIN, and that will be the starting point and the vinyl will not kick out (which is what happens when you press "Reset")

I had to google the whole concept of cricut and cartridges, because I know nothing about that. What it seems to be is this ---- each cartridge provides the design elements. Using a regular cutter, and not having these ready-to-use items, you will have to consider what you want to cut and go obtain a vector graphic that will be suitable.

US Cutter MH series
slice&dice replied to britt0826's topic in Criticism and Complaints about USCutter
The whole opening post runs contrary to my experiences with the MH ---- I got the MH series cutter for christmas and it has been nothing but a disappointment ever since... --- My retail sign store was opened Sept. 2011 with the MH as my primary cutter. I've since generated hundreds of computer-cut-lettered signs using the MH 34" and it never caused me any grief. I am now in the process of looking for a new vinyl supplier as well....I just don't see any point in giving my business to US Cutter when they can't even produce an appropriate cutting machine... --- USCutter provides a value-priced MH machine for under $300 and it does what it does, without frills, without any claim of it being equivalent to cutters costing over $1000. The company has no reason to be apologetic for offering those machines. In fact, they should be proud of helping all the people they have so far with budget equipment that works pretty damn well. It should be able to cut 48 inches wide by 6 feet long but it can not do it!!! --- Not true. I have cut lettering for signs and banners with runs of over 20' (the machine's grounded and I place dryer sheets inside my rolls of vinyl to prevent static build-up). My MH is 34" wide (handles 30" vinyl rolls) and it tracks fine, while cutting from A to Z. --- I run this MH from a Dell laptop with USB, and it has never let me down. -
Hi, you certainly will find lots of details throughout these threads about different uses for cutters ---- everything from sign making, to stencils, to decals, to sandblasting onto glass, to t-shirts, etc etc. While I don't know what "home crafts" really entails, I can urge you to download and take a look at the functionality of SignBlazer Elements.

ZenBlack is on my wish list for Hanukkah. For sure want the media basket, and that "emulated tangential cutting head" sure sounds like I should have it (provides a higher quality of cut).

Let me give this a shot ----- According to the SB Help info, "ImageCut" basically just vectorizes a photo into cuttable lines, and this feature is accessible from the IMAGE menu. Play around with the settings until you get the outcome you like. Seems pretty basic, nothing too hard to accomplish (assuming you have a good original picture to work with).

I upgraded from the MH Refine 34" and have used this SC (LIYU) 34" since May of this year. It's an OK unit, but I'm not completely in love with the stepper motor operation (I would much prefer a quieter, servo cutter). Accurate? Yep. Fast? I've seen higher-end machines blow it away. Efficient? Never had it glitch. (serial connectivity) At some point I'll get it sold on craigslist and take out a loan for a ZenBlack.

At the price point of $300, you can certainly benefit from owning the SC. If you order one, be aware of the manufacturing flaw regarding the right-hand pinch-roller assembly. The factory installs the set-stop screw too far over to the right on the rear rail, and that position allows that roller to completely MISS the grit roller underneath. I have mentioned this a few times in these threads, and feel it is worth mentioning each and every time someone asks about the SC. At some point, the Chinese factory will correct this, but in the meantime, it's a serious defect (vinyl will just crumple and not feed properly if you slide the pinch-rollers all the way over to the right, beyond the grit roller, where the set-position is improperly defined).

Correct the setting for offset.

Yeah, sometimes my "humor" isn't appreciated. What can ya do? I've also noticed the software disk from US CUTTER "SureCutsALot" (SCAL v3) and investigated it here and there. I sure like the fact it does decent vector conversions, that's worth the $60 right there, along with the library of shapes and the ability to add to the library as you go along. Next time I order some vinyl or app tape or banner material, I'll ask USCUTTER to add that CD into my shipment, and I'll give it a workout at my sign store. I like using a really simple interface, and SCALv3 certainly has that.

The #1 problem here seems to be a lack of English skills (which is odd, considering it's a fairly common language in the UK). No offense, humidade, but we can't fathom what you're asking.

Creation PCUT cutting backwards and mirrored. HELP!
slice&dice replied to solvey's topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Yep, that's likely yer problem right there, the FTDI FT232R USB cable ---- in general, the recommended way to get cutters and computers to work nicely together with USB/Serial is to hook up a KEYSPAN adapter. -

What happens if you alter the settings for Cut Direction and/or Cutter Movement? Honestly, this sounds like something has gone haywire with the USB/Serial connector -- what brand are you using? -
Creation PCUT cutting backwards and mirrored. HELP!
slice&dice replied to solvey's topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Turn your plotter/cutter around. (just kidding) Let's see if we understand the problem correctly -- When you say "cuts backwards" -- are the letters coming out REVERSED? (Unreadable?) Your post indicates that you (un)check the mirror box and "it will cut non-mirrored" but can you show us what the results look like? Can you show us a screen shot of your CUTTER SETUP dialogue box? -

They are both from the British firm Vauxhall. (Vivaro is the white one and the orange is a Combo 1700)
-
There is no activation code ----

This was covered in another thread -- Open your Cutter Setup dialogue, hit LOAD button at the bottom, select Graphtec 50, and you should be good to go. (There was also a mention in that thread about the settings on the machine for HP-GL)

I tried this and the results were not useful for anything ---- document.pdf
