  1. Needless to say, I'm very satisfied with the result. Yes, xpaperman, the rods slide for adjustments in and out. The rear one I'm keeping set maybe 4" further than those brackets for the vinyl rollers, allowing for play when pre-unrolling. The front pair is out approx. 10" (it shows as being extended a lot more in the photos, but I've since pushed them in when I started operating) Oh, I forgot to note the diameter of the drill bit, I'll look at that tomorrow and post back.

    does anyone have this please

If it had been MY mother-in-law, she would have gotten Grumpy Cat.
  3. Wow, that's messed up. What does your cutter setup screen look like? Maybe there's something in there you can adjust?
  4. I was really tempted to go with the duct tape, let me admit that right up front. It turns out that the legs of the SC stand have INTERNAL baffles (supporting metal), and when I started drilling through, I had to go into those and keep the holes straight. In fact, I had to drill from each side, and make sure I met exactly in the middle on a perfectly straight line (since the drill bit is not long enough to go all the way from front to back of the stand leg in one shot). Somehow, I managed to do that, and had holes that lined up. In case anyone else is looking to make the same purchase, the width distance for these brackets is 37" across. Now, my SC unit is all ready to go with a blue catch-basket. Here's a series of pix taken step-by-step while doing the installation/assembly.

    scallog??

    Is that anything like kellog?
  6. Good resources. Be aware that not all vector graphics or clipart files are cuttable. This is the single most misunderstood element of our business.
  7. I must be a rocket scientist, because I had the SC up and running within an hour of arrival, including attaching the roller brackets the right way (they need to be facing out, not in), grounding the cutter to the stand, and determining that the far-right-hand pinch roller had to be moved back towards the center a little bit (away from the set-screw stop point, because that position kept the spring-rollers from coming into contact with the lower grit rollers) --- This anomaly is noted in the following thread ---- http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/36439-liyu-sc-gets-up-and-running-my-1st-impressions/?p=283267
  8. Maybe USCUTTER is intentionally sending out blank disks now, because Most people do it like this anyway (obtain their software online) since with the download from the manufacturer's website you are getting the newest version, and the disk doesn't offer that. "I have never even put my disc into my pc" is apparently standard procedure for SCALPRO. Then you can use the serial key that came with your disc to activate it. IOW, the physical disk is irrelevent, and only the key has any true purpose.

new here need help on purchase

Photo shows the boxes standing on their ends, while the printed icons indicate "This End Up" in the OTHER direction. Uh-Oh. Hopefully nothing was damaged by this mishandling.
  10. Unpacked the box this morning, and discovered that the distance between the rods will not permit installation on my MH stand. However, it is perfectly measured for the width of the SC stand, all I need to do is drill the appropriate holes and insert the rods. I did not have the correct drill bit on hand today, so tomorrow that's what I'm going to attempt.

    vinyl express lynx

As indicated in my earlier repy, GRC61 is listed (not GRC60) Jay2703 said that none of the listed SBE drivers function with his Lynx, so that seems like a definitive answer.

You're welcome -- it's not exact, but close enough for jazz.

MILLER LITE Dodge Charger. The '2' appears to be Microgramma Bold, with the bottom section node-edited to be a bit fatter, and then skewed.

    need some images....

Here's the deal, Glenn ----- you'll need to figure out how you intend to build a library of cuttable vector files. You've asked (for free) a series of items that run the gamut from a medieval sword...to an f18hornet, which is a lot of stuff. Let me ask you a question, do you know how to create your own cuttable vector files from artwork? If not, now's a good chance to learn.
  16. The carriage which holds the blade (the "Black Box") is operated in an up & down motion with an electromagenetic relay. It very well might be that the adjustment of that mechanism is not correct, and it's not lifting properly. You can remove the cover of that black box and look to see if there's something which seems messed up.

    craigslist find...hp designjet 1050c

Goodnight, my friend. Nobody who knows what's what regarding printers will give that guy a dime for the HP dinosaur. That seller is just another craigslist flake. I'm headed to go to sleep also, and dream of a nice direct-to-substrate UV flatbed unit.

    PVW help needed

Those .PVW files will be created when the SignBlazer OPEN window browses a folder (directory) -- it doesn't create .pvw files of everything on your hard drive at once, but rather only generates previews within whatever directory is being explored. The "No Previews" checkbox will prevent that, as dakota noted. Also, the script mentioned by coaster needs to be run WITHIN the specific folder that contains .pvw files. Running it from your desktop will not clear the entire hard drive of those previews, it merely will clear the desktop (folder). However, you can run it from the Root c: drive and it should delete all the pvw files from the root directory and all subdirectories. The script is created like this -- simply start a text file in notepad, call it whatever you like but use the extension cmd (ex: cleanup.cmd) and paste the following del *.pvw /s /q More details in this thread http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/27688-how-do-i-stop-signblazer-from-autosaving-a-pvw-file-to-my-computer/

    copam

"How many other products have lasted on the market that long?!" As my wife is fond of reminding me - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." The basic design of our cutting/plotter machines was developed in the late-1950's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plotter A number of printer control languages were created to operate pen plotters, and transmit commands like "lift pen from paper", "place pen on paper", or "draw a line from here to here". Three common ASCII-based plotter control languages are Hewlett-Packard's HP-GL, its successor HP-GL/2 and Houston Instruments DMPL. Here is a simple HP-GL script drawing a line : SP1; PA500,500; PD; PR0,1000; PU; SP; This program instructs the plotter, in order, to take the first pen, to go to coordinates X=500, Y=500 on the paper sheet, to lower the pen against the paper, to move 1000 units in the Y direction (thus drawing a vertical line), to lift the pen and finally to put it back in its stall. Calcomp 565 was one of the early units, and used a feed system with sprocket-rollers (that's why you get perforated-edge rolls even today) In the 1980s, the small and lightweight HP 7470 introduced the "grit wheel" mechanism that we're familiar with on our cutters.

    Puttin' stickers everywhere

"I am running out of places to put stuff." Have you placed a decal onto the face of your cutting carriage? That is a popular location for many of us, and usually the first spot we stick one.
