I would bet a nickel that it's the buttons themselves, and a replacement will get you back into shape.- 5 replies

The SC cutter, for instance, is attached to the stand by rubber feet and no metal touches metal. The MH sits on the stand, but the powder coating on the metal prevents a good ground.

Well, it's official, now you can keep two sets of books like the rest of us!!! (Just kidding)

Full version Signblazer Download (all cutters)
slice&dice replied to BannerJohn's topic in SignBlazer
OK, that's fine, but the zip file from Mystat.com doesn't require a virtual disk-mounting program to run (which you'd have to use in order for the ISO file to properly open -- ISO is not a file format that Windows can open natively.) MagicISO is one such program. My understanding is that WinRAR will do it, also. -
The SCALPRO disk package that comes with the cutter is merely so you can obtain a serial number to activate. Everyone needs to go to the CraftEdge website and download the LATEST version of the program and install that, because the program as it comes on the disk is basically an old version that doesn't really function properly.

Sign Blazed stops responding when I try to choose a bitmap to import
slice&dice replied to srowe78's topic in SignBlazer
You can instantly download SBE v6, and then rid yourself of the 'trial version' nag screen with a Patch. (disable your anti-virus for this, since it will see the Patch as a danger, although it's really not) http://www.mystat.com/Signblazer.zip (install v6, then UK version, then apply the patch) -
First Commercial piece and another car cut project
slice&dice replied to petroman2012's topic in Show your work
petroman, that van is just what a van side should be -- bold, clear, big. Nice. You said: only lost my bet 2 times in 24 yrs --- yeah, but one of those losses was totally EPIC, in 2004. Ouch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yankees–Red_Sox_rivalry -
You will have to take other elements into consideration like fenders, rounded corners, concavities and perspective distortions. These are not eniterly visible in a two dimensional template. Another competing product, Bad Wraps, offers photographic (raster) images of vehicles saved in a Photoshop format. For properly quoting a wrap job (square feet) there is another disk that contains measurements of the vehicle surfaces -- Art Station Wrap Dimensions. BTW, I recall that USCUTTER was trying to put together a seminar last year for vehicle wrappers. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/36898-vehicle-wrapping-class/?hl=wrap If you want more information on vehicle wrap issues, search these Forums for "wrap"

A cutter is a cutter is a cutter. All of them operate basically the same (some with stepper motors, some with servo motors). The TC is a mid-range of the budget line, it shouldn't give you any headaches. I would suggest trying SignBlazerElements, although it has a tendency not to accept newer versions of EPS. http://www.mystat.com/Signblazer.zip

Thanks, it was interesting to delve into the program and come up with that list. We use SBE daily and it's become second nature, but for those who are looking at it for the first time, learning a new application can be daunting and confusing. Hopefully this gives a feeling of "ease of use" because that's how I approach SignBlazer -- designing is simple & quick, and before you know it, signs are ready to cut. I hate to reveal my advancing age this way, but when I first learned in Jr.High school to work with printing (Letterpress) we had a thing called a "California Job Case" that was placed upon a cabinet known as an "Adman" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Job_Case We used em and en spacers, and actual lead bars for leading (hence the name). Oh, nevermind, let's just stick to SignBlazerElements!

What does the SCALPRO "Help" feature say about creating Outlines? BTW, if the substrate is white material, then all you'll need is the outline.

New MH871 - problems
slice&dice replied to booomshakalaka's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
If I were to take an educated guess, the first thing to check is the grit rollers, and verify they're properly secured to the shaft, that is, by seeing if the hex nuts are tightened (use an allen wrench) -
WANTED motherboard wiring diagram on the MH series plotter
slice&dice replied to dee10w's topic in USCutter Equipment Feedback or Suggestions
You are most welcome. It is a proven fact that 'cheap' cutters DO INDEED pay for themselves many time over, and allow people to profit handsomely even. Just today I knocked out a set of small polypropylene plaques (1.5" x 3") onto which I placed numbers. Fifty bucks. Also, a few coroplast yard signs, another Fifty bucks. This is the funnest job I ever had. -
WANTED motherboard wiring diagram on the MH series plotter
slice&dice replied to dee10w's topic in USCutter Equipment Feedback or Suggestions
Not sure what you're attempting to do. I think you're having a problem (according to the photo you posted) of determining which of the two smaller plugs goes where (one is white, one is red, both have white wires). The red one goes in the port away from the fan on the far side, the white one attaches into the port right next to the fan. Does that help? -
If you want to eliminate the possibility of the cutter being at fault, download & install SignBlazerElements and use that to cut, and see if the machine still hangs. If not, then you have a SCALPRO issue. http://www.mystat.com/Signblazer.zip (install v6 first, then the UK version, and apply the Patch to eliminate the nagging start-up screens)

Surber has been posting about trying to get his cutter to run on 12v power (with an inverter) so that leads me to understand he has no access to a regular supply of 110v electric.

That's entirely correct, you actually become a human scanner, and must be able to discern the pattern, square by square. I've done a few, and they're a total pain in the Q.

He said "went fishing" but there was no indication of success. The (now disappeared) opening posting was complaining about people copying her flea-market decal-cutting business, and she threw in a rant about "price-chopping" for good measure. Meh.

My first car job.... Need feedback. :) Thanks
slice&dice replied to LLaurence's topic in Show your work
OIC. No wonder my Google search yielded nothing! I was thinking it was an aftermarket performance-enhancing automotive componenet company, like Edelbrock or Borla. You are to be congratulated for the application, it came out sweeeeet. I noticed that you had to work around the windshield washer spray heads, that must have been tricky. By the way, is it true that stripes make any car go faster? That's what I read on the internet. -
I gave you a legitimate and logical reply. Not disrespectful in any way. In fact, if you look at the thread, you decided to abandon the discussion (and edit/delete your posting) prior to my inserting a comment about that glaring spelling error. You got so upset because I corrected your spelling? Really? No wonder you are having a tough time in business. Thin skin. Go ahead, take your ball and run away. I have nothing against you, either. This is an open Forum, and you placed a rant in here, and I gave my opinion.

Reminds me of this joke -- The Lone Ranger and Tonto walked into the General Store store to buy some supplies. After a few minutes, a big tall cowboy walked in and said "Who owns the big white horse outside?" The Lone Ranger said, "I do, Why?" The cowboy said, "I just thought you'd like to know that your horse is just about dead outside!" The Lone Ranger and Tonto rushed outside and sure enough Silver was about to die from heat exhaustion. The Lone Ranger got water and soon Silver was starting to feel a little better. The Lone Ranger turns to Tonto and said, "I want you to run around Silver and see if you can create enough of a breeze to help cool him down." Tonto replies, "Sure, Kemosabe" and he begins running circles around Silver. Unable to do anything except wait, the Lone Ranger returns into the store to finish buying their supplies. A few minutes later, another cowboy struts into the store and asks, "Who owns that big white horse outside?" The Lone Ranger stands and claims, I do, what's wrong with him this time? The cowboy looks him in the eye and says "Nothing, but you left your Injun running'".

You bought a $30 kill a watt ez meter from home depot. It shows you 10-21 Watts and amperage load under 1 single amp. Why would you be concerned? Plug & Play.
