  1. I talked to bundownbaker today and we determined it is a faulty motherboard. I have been testing all international plotters before shipping as a spot check and this is one of those cases. I've tested dozens of plotters and have not found one yet that has a problem out of the box. I hate to make excuses and try to put the blame on shipping folks but this case is pretty clear. We are doing a parts replacement and hope to get bundownbaker up and running as soon as possible.

  2. Marcel told me there is no return on machines, well what do you think of that.

Our return, shipping, and other policies are clearly stated on the ebay auctions. We offer very low prices on good products, and have hundreds of customers that are satisfied using our products. If we change the way we do business our prices will have to change to reflect that. We do our best to offer support and resolve any hardware issues with the plotters which is what this forum should be used for.

  3. Hello Mike, we do sell replacement parts at www.uscutterdirect.com. We do have some replacement parts for the copam units and will get more in the future. We do not have them listed on the site yet but you can email us if you need anything and we'll get the listings updated once we get more parts.

You can scan pictures into your computer and save them as BMP or JPG and then work with those files to make something that will cut. Some of the other signmakers in here might know more about that process...

  4. We apologize for the delay in shipping of Signcut software. We did receive the software last Thursday and shipped out copies to everyone who was waiting for it the same day. Depending on where you are and mail service in your area you should expect to see that arrive in the next couple days.

  5. Photoshop is a great program, although I've mostly used it for editing photographs.

You are right it is beautiful here if you can manager to get through the ridiculous rain and traffic to get up to the mountains or out to the water. Where you are is not so bad though. You are just a hop, skip, and jump away from Santa Fe or the beautiful Sangre De Cristo mountain range http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sangre_de_Cristo_Mountains in Southern Colorado. The picture of my avatar was taken atop Blanca Peak 14,345 feet up. Besides hiking, skiing, and fishing some people say that area is frequented by UFO's so there is a little something for everyone!

  6. The MH365 setup is the same as the other refine plotters. The pen adapter does not need a separate driver. The plotter will work on PC or Mac with Signcut, however there is no cutting program or USB>Serial conversion driver for Linux that I know of. I have updated the USB setup instructions at the top of the page with more current and specific information relevant to Signcut and better USB setup instructions.

  7. At least your wife let you hang up the "artwork", that probably wouldn't fly in my house :o

There are some tutorial videos on the Signcut CD that can be helpful. I think it is a very good program too. Some people who are looking for an all-in-one package with full graphics capability are disappointed, but really you should be using a program like Corel Draw or Illustrator for your graphics anyway.

Yes the bankers hours are nice, but work is still work and we have lots of it here. If you lived out this way it would be great to work with you knowing how hardworking and knowledgeable you are about signmaking, and I'm pretty sure Marcus would agree.

  8. Unfortunately most new laptops do not come with serial or parallel ports any longer. Flexi should still work with the USB. Follow the setup sheet instructions to set up and install the USB driver. Then change the USB Serial driver port setting in the advanced properties of that driver in the device manager. Try using a Com number 1-4 and also set Flexi to match the same Com port you have set the driver to in device manager. If one port number doesn't work or is "in use" then try another one. I had one person already tell me they were able to install in windows vista with a laptop but I'm not sure if they were using the USB port or not.

  9. I agree with Billy it sounds like you might have a loose connection. Go ahead and take the side panel off where the motherboard is and check the connections. It will not void the warranty, just make sure you take the proper steps to ground yourself out, and preferably use an ESD wristband. You can see more details about that in this post. http://uscutter.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=2&topic=46.0

Also make sure you are using the correct driver for Flexi which is the Roland PNC 1000. If you have another serial port on your computer you might try connecting with that. Ideally you want to get the parallel or usb port to work to see if you still have the same problem. The USB cable won't completely isolate the connection since its still using a serial emulator, but it would tell you if there is a problem with the serial cable or communications over that port. Just call or email us with the results and we can go from there. If you want to set up the USB and need help we can walk through that too.

  10. Just so there is no confusion I do actually work here and appreciate all the support and feedback from our customers. We do provide basic support for the plotter which includes the basic setup, install, and connectivity along with any plotter hardware issues. Anything outside of that is beyond our support boundaries, but we do try our best to get you pointed in the right direction which is the main purpose of this support forum. In some cases such as the problems mentioned above it?s very difficult to diagnose if there is a hardware or software problem. We just ask that you are patient with us and try all the suggestions we give you and that you see in the forum. If it does turn out to be a hardware problem we will make arrangements with you to get the correct parts replaced.

Downloading hacked versions of software from torrent sites is illegal and we do not support or suggest doing this. The Signcut people are very concerned about security and if you have Signcut you know that it?s quite an ordeal just to get the product registered. It is due to the fact that there is so much software piracy today that software manufacturers need to take these measures.

If you are using Artcut I would strongly suggest trying the Signcut software. We have recently started bundling it with our plotters although we do not sell it individually at this time. You can download the trial version at www.signcut.net and its either 79 for the LE unlimited version or 99 for the 3 year subscription to the PE version if you decide to buy it.

  11. Thank you switchatvmc, it's very nice to hear positive feedback on the copam plotters and support  :o I haven't had much time to play with this plotter myself but from what I have seen it is very impressive.

Sorry we didn't release any information on the copam sooner Beardown. Things are happening fast at our company so it's hard to keep up with all the changes and the work. I can say for those who don't know we will also be releasing a 40 inch copam soon. Sorry I don't have any details on it yet but look for it to be listed at our direct sales site www.uscutterdirect.com and possibly on ebay as well.

  12. I've seen in a few instances where this is loose and comes off in shipping. The couple times I've sent out replacements the customer will usually email me the day after saying the found it in the bottom of the box under the cardboard flap so please check thoroughly. I sent one of these out last week which was probably to you, but if not and you still can't find it please email me to let me know.

  13. It is loud and sounds a bit like the old video Atari game defender to me :o but it shouldn't smell like you just fired off some rounds at alien robot ships  :-  First make sure the carriage is on the tracks, it will make an awful sound if it comes off the tracks. Don't be afraid to take the side panel off where the motherboard is to check the cable connections etc. Try to locate where the smell is coming from and let me know if there is still a problem. Replacing the power cord as suggested before is an excellent suggestion too.

  14. The mini disk includes the USB driver and is only necessary if you must use the USB connection. You can also download this driver from the main page at www.uscutter.com in the downloads section. I sent you an email with our contact info so if you are still having problems call here and I'll walk you through the setup.

  15. The USB connection is flaky but some people are using this driver with no problems so I think it is more of a windows/USB issue rather than a driver issue. You can try different USB ports to see if that helps. Make sure your operating system is fully updated with all windows updates. Check the microsoft knowledgebase for any issues concerning USB.

In some cases a certain program or computer model can have a particular problem that might be related to this behavior. Make sure you eliminate all the programs running in the background so there is nothing to interfere with the plotter operation.

Start>Run>type MSCONFIG and press enter> Startup tab

You might also try uninstalling any other printer or other communication devices that might be trying to compete with your plotter for communications over the ports. As mentioned before parallel or serial is always going to be more reliable, especially since this is just emulating a serial connection.
