A little extra thrown at the cutter will be better money spent than about anything else. I actually talked with the people at USCutter in person and they helped me make an intelligent choice. ANY cutter you buy will come with a learning curve and you may at first be a little upset until you get it figured out. Then you will have a blast and become the life of the party and all your dreams will come true. I started out with a 48" P-Cut and only occasionally cut 30" vinyl and only then because it happened to be the size of a specific color I needed that the local supplier only had in stock 30" wide. When I upgraded to a high end cutter I went down to a 30" Rarely do I do any jobs that I even need the 30". (Summa's only come 30" or larger so it was the smallest available). If you stick with it and have even the smallest ability in you you can make the machine pay for itself without too much trouble. I don't advertise or anything and have work coming out of my ears most of the time. once people figure out you can do it then they come in droves. If you can swing the cost I recommend you also buy at least a cheap 15"x15" heat press so you can do heat transfer vinyl on shirts. You will be glad you did and make even more money. Wait, you don't live around my home town do you? If so just ignore everything I just said, you really don't want to get into this line of work it's just a money pit.

Paths, seperating pieces of a project
Wildgoose replied to GraphxNMore's topic in Sure Cuts A Lot Pro
I like what you did with the flags darcshadow. Looks good. I had a golf game today and by the time I got back everyone has pitched in. I rebuilt the wolf head in mine so if you want you can pull it apart and lay the flogs and such over the top. I separated the flags but hadn't gotten to doing any more than just starting to play with. I would use Darcs flags. Lone Wolf2.svg -

This thing is messy! How many color layer are you wanting? I understand breaking out the flags but there are several possibilities within the wolf that I might as well clean up while I'm in there. -

Post the file in svg or eps and I or someone will help you out. You are going to have to do a little cutting and joining here and there to get what you are wanting. If you are using SCALP it will be a lot of work. -
LOL! I have a 2 yr old who likes to help me out too. She is better help than my older kids when it's time to carry things to the trash. Good times man.

A couple of my kids have been wanting to learn to us Illustrator since they see me "playing" with it so much. They found a pic online and did most of the work vectorizing this by hand the hard way. If they are going to learn it I want them to learn it right. They are going to be handy to have around once I get them dialed in.

Ah the old "When in doubt, weed it out" trick!

If/when I ever go ahead and start doing the cloud version I will have access to PS and I think after watching you pick things apart like that I'm going to have to be sure and learn some of those tricks as well. Real nice work.

Mad skills Skarekrow as usual.

That stuff is pretty tough. I don't have any that I am currently washing that are on glass but I used some on a test run on the back of an aluminum cookie sheet that has been through a whole bunch of cook>wash cycles without any signs of a problem.

Welcome from Idaho.

Well technically there are two so.... I had to help out with some of the technical stuff and there are all kinds of gradients that we never got around to doing. Bottom line is it was a lot of fun seeing new recruits get the bug!

Last few inches of cuts are off - HELP
Wildgoose replied to krissyjessop's topic in Copam Cutting Plotter Discussion
Yep, been there and done that myself. I was cutting fine sand then slid my pinch roller over to where it wasn't over a friction spot on the drive shaft and everything went real bad. -
How to resolve a problem with exporting in CorelDraw?
Wildgoose replied to patrickjohnson's topic in Adobe Illustrator
Why is this thread in the Illustrator forum? Is this a subconscious lean toward Illy? -
Corporate Logo Question
Wildgoose replied to arty-rc's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Take an authorization letter with you that says something along the line that the undersigned has full legal authority to authorize its use and that your company will be indemnified and held harmless for any work you do specifically for him. Have him sign it, if he is hesitant then you can probably get a good idea if he really has the authority and you can suggest he looks into it before you begin. -
Illustrator is just a design program. There are plug-ins from several cutting programs that will allow you to cut FROM illustrator but they are basically a shortcut to the actual cutting software. If you can design in Illy then you can just use SCALP as a cutting tool and it isn't completely worthless in that regard. There are several other cutting options. Flexi, SignCut (what I use) Signblazer, old but still handy if you have an older computer to run it.

I just finished off a bottle of that brand and had good luck with it. Smells nice.

I don't see a pic but most use a decent monogram font and some who are talented enough draw them out themselves.

What about HTV on the soft covers? I have a friend who is wanting one and I haven't gotten around to it yet but I was hoping if it's canvas type product I could press it on.

You are talking about what...$24 per 10yd roll of 24" difference in cost. You think you will use more than 30 or 60ft of vinyl? $24-$48 extra? Seems pretty minimal to me in the grand scheme of things.
-
SCALP really kinda sucks for most of that kind of thing. I'm not Corel literate so I can't help you much with the details but you are WAY better off to spend your time learning to use it and just cut from SCALP after you design elsewhere.

Looks pretty easy to just duplicate. Be a good practice job for your corel x5 program.

Ya and I get to keep 25% wow! That was an actual letter than came all the way from where ever the heck these people are from. That's a first.
