  1. it's most likely a combination of speed, pressure and blade depth. I know that many here recommend a 120 pressure, but I get best results from about 90. It also depends on what you're cutting. I notice that I need to tweak it depending on the brand of vinyl I happen to be cutting. Do you get perforations if you do a test cut? I was getting perforation cuts if I set my pressure too heavy, hence the pressure of 90. Also check the blade and blade holder to make sure it's not all gummed up with adhesive or vinyl. Good luck.

    dog wont stop barking!

Hm ... a kong toy stuff with treats (http://www.dog.com/item/kong-original-red-tuffy/) or a non-shocking bark collar (http://www.dog.com/item/petsafe-ultralight-bark-control-collar/) I personally have a barker ... didn't take very long for everyone to identify my house as, "the dog that barks in the window." Anyway, when it gets to be too much, I strap on the bark collar (as listed above) and it emits a brief high-pitch sounds which stops her barking cold. Now she's trained that when is wearing that particular collar she doesn't bark. I've also tried a Pet-Agree (http://www.amazon.com/Pet-Agree/dp/B0009YUDVI). It stops some dogs from barking. I don't recommend the collars that spray citronella, as the oil it sprays will remain on the dog well after the initial spray. That's not the most effective way to train them.

Tell you girlfriend that she needs to exercise her dog before she leaves the house, and that the there have been complaints (even if it's only complaining so far). or tell her to buy a Cesar Milan video
  4. I would give your self a 38" width minimum, as there is the power cord that sticks out to the left, and the serial or USB cable that sticks out to the right. The depth will vary depending on how big or small you make your media bin. I had the rods on mine cut down so it would fit in a more compact area (about 23" deep). I'm guessing you'll be good with the height (just shy of 43" tall). If you're using a PC then you can download and install the trial version of Sign Blazer Elements (SBE) to as many computers as you like. The trial version is fully functional and has no 'time bomb' on it - it simply has a 'nag' screen when you first start up the application. It's probably the easiest cutting software to work with. If you're using a Mac, then your choices are a bit more limited and you'd probably need to buy more licenses for additional computers. As far as vinyl goes - there will be many suggestions for different applications. It helps to pick everyone's brains here Good luck, and congrats!
  5. Ahh... Grace I tried to put the thread back on track. I think all these comedians will always run in it (this thread) into the ditch. :-

I would've got a quote from BayShore (on this forum), then turned around, did a mark-up and still took the job.
  10. I can't say that I do t-shirts, but I can tell you that that is a design that I would not want to weed
  11. I'm not sure if I understand completely ... You just want to cut out the wings and want to get rid of the letters and numbers? If you want just the wings, did you want the wings to be closer together or are you going to put in your own text/numbers?

    Transfer tape bunches up

Once you lay the application tape on the decal and backing, why are you pulling it up? The application is designed to go on the vinyl and stay on the vinyl until the decal is applied somewhere. If you have your decal and laying the application tape on to it, make sure you go from center then work you way out with a squeegee. If you have difficulties with that, then try unrolling the application tape, sticky side up, then laying your decal face down on the tape. Again, work your way starting from the center and going outwards with a squeegee. I'm not quite understanding the bunching. You might need to post pics. To attach pics, click on the "Additional Options" at the bottom of the reply box and you can attach it there.

  14. Hey all - is there a best practice to remove reflective vinyl? I just purchased a used vehicle and it has the original stealership reflective decal on the bumper. I started peeling it, but as with all reflective decals that I've come across, it tears into little itty-bitty size pieces and makes me kind of crazy. If I use a hair blow dryer, would that help or make it worse? The little bits that I've managed to peel off aren't leaving any adhesive back, which a miracle all by itself. Keep in mind that the vehicle was used, and from what I can tell, the decal probably sat in the sun everyday, and its been on the vehicle since 2003. Any advice would be appreciated. Mahalo.

    reflective vinyl removal

Mahalo guys! You crack me up! I have some 3M adhesive & wax remover, but I'm always wary about using that stuff around paint. Thank goodness that the decal I'm trying to remove is only about 6"x3", and not a huge 12"x12". I guess I'll suck it up and just pick it off in itty bitty bits ... that should only take a few hours, right? Hahahaha.

  18. Used to be a huge fan of FF, but Kage is right, it's heading in a downward spiral. I can get the site queried quickly, but to the load the graphics on it - oy vay! I tried chrome, but didn't like the too simple setup ... not to mention that I heard it probably tracks and collects more information than other browsers out there - I'm not sure how much is factual and how much is fiction. I like Safari, but some site just won't display nicely. Poor web designer are faced with the challenges of trying to design for far too many browsers. :-

choke that's the local slang replacement (i.e. "Wow, that guy has choke decals!")
  23. Static can definitely be a culprit. If the graphic isn't too big, you can run a sheet of Bounce or something gently over the vinyl prior to cutting.
  24. will the carriage move manually with the power off?
  25. how ever many rollers you cutter comes with, use them all. if it's going askew then it sounds like a tracking problem, does it seem that way to you?
