Ready to buy: shipping/payment to canada?

I was able to get my 24" LaserPoint to Hawaii via eBay, however, I did contact Ken in advance to get the cost on shipping... $180 (shipping charges only) :why:. I think part of the astronomical shipping charges are to deter customers outside of the "lower 48". Regardless... the LaserPoint was what I wanted so I had to bite the bullet and pay the shipping.

    just opened the box....

Not to worry, this forum will help you every step of the way. The blade holder itself is a screw that adjusts the depth. The top portion and bottom portion rotate independently. As for the driver that you will need for your PC, you can contact Ken and he should be able to help you.
  4. Wow, reading this thread almost confused me, and my stand is actually put together already. as crshdumy said, there are 6 pieces: 4 with 90-degree bends and 2 rods (which are more like sleeves. The solid rod long ends go through the holes in the stand. The sleeve goes into the hem line of the media canvas. Insert the two short sides of the 90-degree rods into the sleeve. If there is still any confusion, let me know, I will be more than happy to take pics and post.
  5. From what I can tell, the general consensus is that if you can afford it, than the Copam is the way to go. If budget is an issue, than the PCut or maybe the LaserPoint. I wrestled with that decisions myself, and even posted the same question (you can use the search and see how many of us actually ask that same question). I ended up buy the LaserPoint and have absolutely no complaints about it. Any issues that I run into is strictly "user error". Good luck with your decisions, and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

    ????? VIEW eps files

Same here. And I've looked over the Learning Guide. There are .eps file that I've imported and cut, but SBE still won't give me a thumbnail preview unless I save it as a SB file (which I don't need to do often).

    signage question

I'm confident that someone on this forum will have an answer ... How are the (metal) signs in parking lots (i.e. private property your vehicle will be towed ...) made? Is it some kind of screen printing or is it super thin vinyl? I have a friend with a tow truck company that is interested in signs, but I don't know if it's something I can do for her. thanks.

    Post of RUGRATS

I'm looking for Ren & Stimpy, Daria (MTV cartoon), Family Guy, Rocko's Modern Life (Nicktoons), American Dad, anything Adult Swim, Hanna Barbara, anime, etc. I'm a toon/anime fanatic - I just don't have any images (sigh).

    Font Problem

If all else fails ... create three separate letters and you can size and move them until you like what you see.

    Barter anyone?

Is anyone out there willing to barter materials, services and/or both for products from Hawaii? (i.e. macadamia nuts, chocolate covered mac nuts, haupia mix (Hawaiian coconut jell-o), postcards, calendars, etc.) Here's the deal ... I'm not a sign/banner maker by trade and don't see becoming one in the future, however, I really like to make stuff for myself and (mostly) my friends and family. There is really only one supply shop here, and as you can guess - everything is expensive. It's really expensive for me to buy a roll of vinyl (50 yards) of individual colors - but I never need that much vinyl of a single color, and buying it by the yard is way more expensive. I've checked eBay, and many of the sellers aren't willing to ship to Hawaii, or they want to charge some ridiculous amount for shipping. So if there is anyone out there willing to barter (or sell cheap) some materials let me know. For now, I'm looking for magnet sheets (11" x 17"-ish, Qty. 3), reflective vinyl (sheets or roll), and photo luminescent vinyl (sheets or roll). Nothing in huge quantities, it just stuff that I would like to play around with. I'm also thinking about making some shirts with my business logo, but I have no desire to buy a heat press - so if anyone out there is willing to make some shirts for me, that would be great too. Anyway, I just thought I would put my offer out there and see if anyone is willing to barter. Mahalo!

    EBAY QUESTION?????????????????

I've never sold an ebook on eBay, but I do understand that the seller needs to have the file posted someplace on the internet so that it can be delivered immediately upon payment. I'm guessing that you would accept PayPal for payment. The PayPal website (as well as eBay) should have step-by-step instructions on how to proceed with that. Depending on the size and content of your digital file, I might be able to host it for you* - possible free, depending on how much bandwidth is involved. PM me if you are interested. *I will not host copyrighted materials without the author's consent, and I will not host materials that are offensive or questionable in nature (adult entertainment, racist materials, etc.).

    Looking for a new cutter

I'm a total newbie to cutting, so you can take it or leave it but here is my 2-cents... You can import several different type of graphic files into Sign Blazer Elements (SBE). To vectorize a raster image in SBE, you simply need to convert it to "monochrome", and the it's ready for vectorizing. You can download the trial version and give that a go before you make your final decision [http://www.colorchromefirst.com/index.htm]. There are many users here that use Inkscape (free open source) that will allow you to vectorize. I personally use the Vector Magic [http://vectormagic.stanford.edu/] website (because I haven't quite grasped the Inkscape thing yet) - and it's free. As far as getting help - this forum cannot be beat. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. You're not going to get better support anywhere else. There are boards for other cutters, as well as specific boards for whatever software you happen to need help with. Good luck with your decision.

    Barter anyone?

zipcode is 96823 (to a PO Box). FedEx, UPS, and DHL are still expensive, but I need to provide a physical location, then it will be zipcode: 96813. I'm attaching the logo, vectorized by members on this forum (who totally rock!) :woohoo: midpac -dg.eps midpac -dg.eps

    Barter anyone?

I've seen their website, but there is no info about shipping methods and costs. I'm hoping to find someone that is willing to ship to via USPS First Class or USPS Priority and not going to gouge me on the prices.

    No roller instructions

Don't give up. I know the stand instructions have a lot to be desired - it got a little mental with them myself. It will come together just fine. I took a couple more pictures and I hope they help. The convex side of the vertical supports go on the outside, and the roller/cutter pieces are secured with just the one screw on each side.

This forum is costing me $$

First off - GOOD LUCK! Tell her to praise your intelligence, because you weren't stupid enough to buy another brand that would have easily cost you 5x what you paid for your cutter.
  20. Not screwing - frugal. At least if I was some Richie Rich, that what I would call it. For now, I'm a poor working stuff.

    No roller instructions

I agree with you there, but after a couple of questions to the forum, and a little deductive thinking, I was able to figure it out. Here are a couple of pictures of how I have it setup for my machine. One word of caution - the rollers need to go on during the stand assembly, as they cannot be removed - only moved back and forth. Good luck. Let me know if you need more pictures.

    cutting off an eps file

That sounds like SBE is seeing different levels to cut (I don't know what the technical term would be). I'm still a relative newbie myself, but I used to have the same problem. I found out there there some "white" spaces that were adding to SBE, but wasn't visible. I usually end up doing some kind of "weld" (punch through or total). You can also post your question to the Sign Blazer forum. http://www.signblazer.net/forum/index.php Good luck.
