It's a commercial font. I haven't found any place that allows for a free download of the font.

Thanks Terry .... dude, you always have the "goods."

Nothing fancy. I haven't even attempted to do more than one color, so black & white/line art is perfect.

Serious problem with my new laserpoint?
haumana replied to bigboyzwbigtoyz's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Support Requests
First off to the forum. What software are you using to cut? Could you post either the .eps of .sbd file so that we can help troubleshoot what's going on here? -
Okay, now that I've read this thread I can't get that song by Carl Douglas out of my head ... I'd better dig out my iPod. I'm pretty sure I must have that song on it Everybody was kung-fu fighting Those cats were fast as lightning In fact it was a little bit frightning But they fought with expert timing They were funky China men from funky Chinatown They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down It's an ancient Chineese art and everybody knew their part From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip Everybody was kung-fu fighting Those cats were fast as lightning In fact it was a little bit frightning But they fought with expert timing There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung He said here comes the big boss, lets get it on We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand The sudden motion made me skip now we're into a brand knew trip Everybody was kung-fu fighting Those cats were fast as lightning In fact it was a little bit frightning But they did it with expert timing (repeat)..make sure you have expert timing Kung-fu fighting, had to be fast as lightning

At least that it relatively reasonably priced. I remember taking their survey and they were asking if the consumers would be willing to pay some kind of ridiculous amount of money either for a monthly subscription, per use, or if they ever got around to releasing a licensed version. I guess maybe they figured out that we would find other means to get the job done.

You know ... I never thought about running the rod through the vinyl core. Wow. I'll be the first to admit that I don't think out of the box :-

Just wondering what the general consensus is out there. I'm partial to milk chocolate. Dark is a bit too bitter for me (however the boyfriend really likes it), and I swear that white chocolate really should be called by some other kind of name ... where's the chocolate in that?

Attaching blade holder to machine??
haumana replied to skiinzzz's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Support Requests
the angle that comes with the LP is a 45, there are others that use 60 for more intricate stuff. yah, fedex sucks for so many different reasons. i started out using a pressure of 60 too. others here crank there's up to over 100. when you move the carriage using the arrows, you need to remember to hit the cross hairs button to tell the cutter that the new carriage location is the 0,0 mark. if you take you cutter offline, move the vinyl and move the carriage (and without hitting the cross hairs button) the cutter will automatically return to whatever was the 0,0 mark. as far as blade depth and pressure, it'll differ depending on the material, material manufacturer, etc. I have a 3M film that I need to back the pressure way off, and I also use Oracal 651 with a pressure any where between 70 - 80. As I said before, I started out at 60, but found that 70 - 80 will weed faster for him, so I guess my blade was only putting enough pressure to cut the vinyl and not really go into the adhesive all that much. It'll be trial and error. I think I went through a good yard of 15" before I got the blade depth and pressure all setup, and that also includes the numerous times I forgot to reset the 0,0. Don't worry about the cutting strip too much. They sell replacements, but once you get the hang of it, you won't be cutting through the vinyl or the backing. It'll be worth it in the long run. Take a break, have a beer - then maybe it'll all come to you Good luck! -

Keep the faith, it will all come together for you. Any questions and concerns, bring them here. We'll do our best to assist. The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked. Loading ... Well if you're loading a roll (or a really long piece), then the roll sits in the back and you pull the vinyl through the back of the cutter to the front. If it's a small piece, you just need to know that the cutter feeds the vinyl from back to front as it cuts. Do your best to get the vinyl as straight as possible, you can test how straight it is by loading the vinyl, taking the cutter "offline," and use the arrows to feed the vinyl back and forth. You'll see any drift. If what you're cutting is small, then drift shouldn't be a huge problem (just a waste of material). For small pieces, I try to line them up with some of the markings on the white/black/yellow sticker that's on the front of the machine. Try to get the pinch rollers down closer to the edge of the vinyl - it'll help minimize some drift. Do not use the pinch rollers over the gap between the two bottom rollers, it'll leave some serious dents in the vinyl. Once you have your vinyl loaded, you need to position the vinyl to start. Feed the vinyl towards the back of the cutter so that there some just in front of the cutting area and ruler. With the cutter still offline, use the arrows to move the cutting carriage to the right most position of the vinyl. Once in position, press the cross hairs button to reset the cutter's 0,0 position. Put the cutter back online, and you're good to go! It's going to be sooo cool when you get it up and running. Make sure you take some pics and post them in the show your work bulletin so we can see what you've been up to. -
how do I apply vinyl letters to wood signboards?
haumana replied to ashleyp's topic in General discussion
Doesn't it just suck when there's no consistent policy about that kind of stuff? makes others feel like they're getting the shaft from companies. -
I think we should setup one thread that answers the cast vs. calendared, and more info about heat press vinyl stuff and make it a sticky! Then I wouldn't be asking questions that maybe, kinda sorta answered my questions

The SignBlazer Elements Learning Guide and the "manual" for the cutter should be on the discs that were included with the cutter. If you didn't receive it, let Ken know and I'm sure he'll get you a replacement. I thought it was going to be a plug and play thing too, but was awakened to reality. Not to worry, once you understand the basics you will turning into mad cuttin' fool! At least I did Whatever questions you have, bring it to the forum - try to post it in the right section (you get faster results), and we'll get everything working for you. Maybe your girlfriend will go easy on you as soon as she sees you making cool stuff. -
I want a graphtec! Now accepting donations

Most here will tell you that they've had the best run with serial cable. I use a USB (knock on wood), however, many others have run into problems with that. It just might depend on which cutter you purchase, and what your available ports are available. It's best to keep the most direct connection from computer to cutter (i.e. try not to use any hubs, switch boxes, or ad-hoc methods). You also need to make sure that you have the right driver downloaded. Good luck! Check back with us. Let us know how everything goes, and of course, if you have any complications come back here and we'll do our best to help you.

I knew there was a method to the madness I will do my best to commit it to memory

Why switch to cast for trailers and boats? (not trying to be sarcastic, just really want to know)

how do I apply vinyl letters to wood signboards?
haumana replied to ashleyp's topic in General discussion
the vinyl has adhesive, and you need to use application tape to apply it to anything. Depending on size, the window stuff can be applied wet or dry. The larger it is, the more likely you will want to use a wet application with application fluid. If you search this forum, as well as YouTube, you'll find info about that. If you need to do a wet application, then you will need to have a paper application tape (vs. clear application tape). cut, weed (out the negative stuff you don't want on your sticker, apply application tape over your weeded design, and apply. just make sure that the surface you're applying it too is clean. Does the wood you're wanting to apply it to have a finish to it? -
awesome! did you enjoy weeding the lattice work?

Good God! What are you driving??? An RV?? yikes! Hmm ... I think I should be happy that it only cost my about $60-$65 to fill up on 87. Cheap gas here is Costco ... 3.64 for 87. The average retail I would say is up to 3.80 for 87 now. The outer islands have passed the $4 mark a while ago. Then things got a bit scary when one of the two refineries here had a fire. Only one refinery to support out entire state. People here drove anything and everything they had that about hold gas to filler'up in case we ran into a gas shortage ... of course many of those same people didn't realize that it would be them who caused a gas shortage to begin with.
