I'm trying to get Inkscape to work on 10.8.2. From what I've found you need to install XQuartz (X11 replacement). I'm having issues with this for some reason. I can't find anything on the Xquartz wiki so I'm asking here: does anyone know where this installs to? I can't find it in my applications. When I try to launch Inkscape it asks to be directed to X11 or something related (Xquartz), but I can't find where it lives. Any help is appreciated, -Paul

I'm using a copam cp2500 and SCAL on a mac 10.8.2 and am having nothing but problems. It will cut a good file every now and then. It's crazy. So what it mostly does is IF it starts cutting without shooting my vinyl out of the back of the cutter, then it will cut really jagged edges around letters and corners, like it's peeling up and then some of the spots actually will peel up and stick to the blade as it's going through. The depth is not cutting through the back paper, only the vinyl just fyi.... Help....

First off thank you to everyone on this forum, I have been reading on the forum as a guest for a couple of months just soaking it all in. I finally signed up and am ordering my first cutter (MH721) today. I've watched the SCAL Pro tutorial videos and read through the first cut post. I'm just going to be doing decals/stencils for myself and maybe family and friends, at least that is the plan. I'm sure I will have tons of questions and appreciate all of the knowledge.

Hello everyone. My name is Mickie and I am new to this site and cutting vinyl. Well, I do have a small cricut but I haven't used it much at all so I am starting from scratch. I have been reading as much as possible before my machince, SC series comes. It arrived today and I have loaded the software. I'm looking at buying a few designs to do some gift items, things to sell at craft shows and maybe do a few decals for cornhole boards. We make and sell the gamebags and just thought this would be a good thing to add. We have done craft shows for years with all kinds of craft items. So consider this a warning, lol, I'll probably be here asking tons of questions when I start trying to make my own designs and cutting designs. I look forward to learning loads from you all. Happy New Year!!!

I bought this specifically for contour cutting versus buying a month or week license of SignCut every time I need it, a few time a year. To help speed things along, I did some port sniffing and research on the protocol. Here is what I found: When doing laser offset alignment, or "Test connection", nothing is actually sent to the plotter and the software usually locks up. When doing contour cutting (print and cut), the alignment goes OK, but between alignment and cutting, it sends a new page command which sometimes leaves it saying "Waiting", or more often reboots the plotter. If I capture the serial data from this whole process and remove new page command, "; !PG;" from the data and send the whole thing to the plotter, it duplicates all the registration mark alignment moves, then cuts the design as it should. The alignment is off though because the laser offset is not set. I can manually enter offset values, but it does not work as expected. As for the 5 keystrokes before it moves, that is a plotter issue. Scalp3 is sending data for the keystrokes when the keys are pressed. Signcut did the exact same thing as well. The CraftEdge folks have been doing an excellent job of resolving issues so far, hopefully they can use this info to get us LaserPoint 1 folks get up and running sooner. Edit: This testing done with version 3.044

Mickie, hi! The first thing to do is reposition your farthest to the right pinch-roller stop screw. The SC has a flaw in the set-screw position of the far-right pressure roller. If you slide it all the way to the right, where the set-screw is located to stop it, the pinch-roller will actually MISS (be over too far, beyond) the lower grit roller. I fixed this myself by drilling a new hole and moving the set-screw. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/37334-sc-issue-vinyl-crumples/?p=284146

Great job, I like your work. Just a thought you might want to rethink the fan decal in the babies room. Read this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosensitive_epilepsy Tells about Photosensitive epilepsy (PSE) is a form of epilepsy in which seizures are triggered by visual stimuli that form patterns in time or space, such as flashing lights, bold, regular patterns, or regular moving patterns.

I have asked the guys at IP.Board to help with the conversion process. We are therefore subject to their timeline. I expect that they will take down our forum for several hours during the conversion process. If our forum goes down for several hours sometime over the next week, do not panic.

Just wondering if/when RSS feeds will be available on the new board. On the old boards I subscribed to 4-5 categories and then received the updates in my google reader account. With the new board, I don't see this option available. Thanks for any info.
