hutchbrighton 2 Posted May 18, 2020 Hi all, When cutting anything circular not getting a perfect arc/roundel the cut is ragged. All straight/ boxed cuts are spot on on as is the test cut. Tried all the obvious though will listen to any advice again. Attached are the examples. Thanks in advance
MZ SKEETER 4,709 Posted May 18, 2020 We don't know what you consider obvious or correct, so start with the correct blade depth. Don't ever use some instructions that rely on a credit card as depth. It is a myth and wrong. Way too much blade exposed. This is correct way to set your blade depth. To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting. You should only be cutting the vinyl and barely a mark on wax paper backing, Adjust blade to get there, Then put the blade holder back in machine, and use the force of the machine to get there, same results, only cutting the vinyl and barely a mark in wax paper backing. You should just barely see and feel your blade tip out of the blade holder. Start with a new blade. Blade offset is Zero on a Graphtec. Make sure there are not scratches and gouges in your cutting strip. Cut slow while your working on figuring it out. What does your Graphtec Cutting TEST look like? Is the square and triangle sharp? No mention of cutting software, but have you tried a different one? Type text right from the cutting software. No traced text. Have you zoomed the design up big in wire frame and looked at it good to make sure it is not the design? Add a drop of light oil in the blade holder to make sure blade is spinning freely after you make sure the blade holder is clean.
hutchbrighton 2 Posted May 18, 2020 Hi and thanks Signlab 7.1 I'm a hobbyist, bought cheap blades and holder- you can guess the rest. So resorted back to the real deal. The design has been cut countless times-all perfect. The test cut is perfect ( square and triangle.) Just popped some WD-40 in the blade holder, but guess that an "oil" lubricant is better.have reduced the force. Its not perfect, but better. Last thing I checked is the cutting strip, there's a furrow you could plant potatoes in. I will have that ordered asap. Thanks for taking the time and stay safe Cheers
haumana 1,220 Posted May 18, 2020 definitely change the cutting strip, and you might want to consider getting a clean cut blade. are your circles done in the software, or was a vectorized image? how many nodes does your design have?
hutchbrighton 2 Posted May 18, 2020 Cutting strip-ordered. Clean cut blade? The circles are software, I've just changed the vector and this is a lot better,
darcshadow 1,627 Posted May 18, 2020 Clean cut, it's a brand of blades. They are a bit expensive but every one that uses them loves them.
