Glamiskid395 0 Posted November 13, 2014 Hello all, I recently bought R-tape conform in a 24" roll thinking it would be quicker to apply to the bigger jobs i do that use 24" vinyl. It has only proved harder and I end up wasting more. Is there any good way to cut the roll in different lengths? I've read a bandsaw can work but I can see that tearing it and ruining a whole role. Thanks, Michael

pshawny 410 Posted November 13, 2014 I cut a 48" roll of tape down to 24" once. Used a 10" miter saw with a fine tooth blade. I had to turn the roll to cut all the way through it, so the cut wasn't perfectly straight. It was a little messy, but the tape didn't fuse together and is perfectly usable. I have a new idea to try now though. My brother-in-law has a vertical band saw. I ordered a razor sharp knife edge band saw blade to fit it. In theory I should be able to slice right through rolls of tape, vinyl, & other rolled media.
pshawny 410 Posted November 24, 2014 The vertical band saw idea didn't work so great. Not enough downward pressure, and you can't really press on them. Next idea, convert a cheap wood lathe into a roll sitter.
