Cutting material with Refine, like the Cricut's do.....?

So in this video, you can cut material with the cricut...

Can we do this with the Refine or any other cutters?

My mom is HUGE into sewing, embroidery and quilting and she wants to buy the Cricut Expression so she can do this.

Figure I'd save the money if we can.

Any thoughts? Figured this was worth discussion. Maybe using that sticky board thing and the iron on stuff this may work....

my thoughts are: why wouldn't it work. ? Cricut uses a Roland blade. You can purchase the carrier sheets(sticky board thing) at Walmart. or wherever they sell the Cricuts. Take a piece of scrap fabric and try it. What have you got to lose?

I couldn't find the carrier sheets online in Walmart. But Target shows them, make sure you get that iron on stuff they used on the fabric.

I'd like to hear how this works out. I have cut duct tape which has very strong strands of fiber running through it, but cloth seems too flexible to work well?

Let us know if it works and what types of cloth you cut.
