Toolman 1 Posted April 21, 2010 Hey Mab GREAT work I really like the memorial you did. That was a really bad accident. We are a coal mining town here also.I used to work in the mines yrs. ago.Really hits home when something like that happens. Could I get a copy of the miner crawling file? I like that one it has a lot more detail than the ones I have. Thanks

mabscotthandyman 1,410 Posted April 23, 2010 thanks every one I have never worked in the mines, I have done construction work at them but most of my family members either worked in the mines or run small mines called punch mines my father and uncles had a punch mine on our property when i was young and they managed to make a living out of it, most punch mines were closed after stricter safety laws made it impossible for people to run small mines in the early 60s one of my grand sons work's just a couple miles from the mine that the explosion occurred at, and for the same company. It has been a way of life for many, many years for the people of the Appalachians and probably will be for many more . Toolman here is the file for the miner Dan coalminor crawling[1].ai coalminor crawling[1].ai

MacGrafix 5 Posted April 23, 2010 Dan, was that anywhere near Sophia? I used to live in Sophia and much of my family is still there. My grandfather helped organize the unions in the mines before he moved up here to work.
