sounds like after 3 years it's time to upgrade. I recommend anything BUT the MH series it's not what it was 3 years ago. In the meantime, cut the file in pieces. I know it's more work but it will get you there/

Cutter just started cutting wierd
BannerJohn replied to CajunCustom's topic in TITAN 2 Series Vinyl Cutter Discussions
every bad cut with my Titan ended up being a software issue. Every single one. -
Shipping Small Decals
BannerJohn replied to KYSIGN's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
You can get tracking on media mail ...you couldn't for a long time. Just because your local idiots don't know what the national idiots are doing doesn't make it so. There is no longer a thickness requirement of course it is a good way to get rid of those peanuts. -

the 3/4 inch requirement was done away with a few years ago. -
I can't remember it. Have fun but not TOO much fun.

Those of you who know me well already know that in addition to my sign business, I am also full time care-giver to my 92 year old mom who has Alzheimer's. To keep myself sane I have taken up a new hobby that hopefully will add some income to my SS when I start to draw in 18 months...wood turning. I bought a lathe a few months ago and just plunged right in...and it has worked wonders for me. Here are some pics of some of the things I have made.

Yeah I have a pen mandrel on the way and already have a few kits waiting, and blanks. Don't know how my blind eye is gonna handle the small stuff but we shall see. So why did you stop? -

I have not had a single banner fail using Greenstar. The fact is, it will probably outlast the banner itself. Same for coroplast. Shrinkage is minimal but ALL calendared vinyl will shrink. It's as simple as that. But use what you will..if you are doing a few banners here and there, it doesn't make much of a difference. But if you do a LOT of banners, use the GS...otherwise you are wasting a lot of money. IT all adds up.

http://stores.ebay.com/BANNERS-AND-MORE?_rdc=1 I have been getting pre=made from this guy for years. Good quality and decent prices and he will custom make any size you need. Only in white, though.

I use 13oz and I have done many hundreds of banners ( maybe thousands). If you are just doing one, order pre-made hemmed all sides. If you are planning on doing a bunch, get the rolls...but word of warning..I have yet to find a banner hem tape that will hold on 13oz. You can always get a heavy duty sewing machine and sew the ends. Unless you order block-out or double sided, you can only apply vinyl to the finished side. as for vinyl....651 will likely outlast the banner itself....don't waste your money on the 751. Remember...banners are not meant to be permanent signage. For long term use, get something else. Good luck...and the way to get good is 'practice, practice, and practice'.

yes it was some kind of town celebration....they are dressed for the tourists.... that is Virginia, not WEST Virginia.... (sorry, Mabscot)

have you checked for a fuse? Should be one on it somewhere
-
your problem has nothing to do with the type of vinyl and everything to do with how tightly you are rolling it. I probably use more Greenstar vinyl in the average WEEK than most of the detractors have in their entire lives and they seriously don't know what they are talking about. Shelf liner? Give me a break.

Getting sick of people under pricing and more.
BannerJohn replied to MadHatterGraphix's topic in Off Topic Section
I haven't been to Sins101 in years. They think having the money to buy an expensive cutter and other equipment makes you a sign person. I was PAINTING signs before many of them were born. Bunch of snobs and you can have them all. AS for snitching....I can tell you from experience that VW (for one) actually has people on the payroll that do NOTHING but look for copyright violations. They don't do my job for me and I'm not doing theirs for them. And no, my experience wasn't from doing VW crap...it was my nephew who was doing a website for his '65 Beetle restoration and they came after him, said he couldn't even use the VW name or 'beetle' on his blog.wb page. He was 15 at the time. -
help always welcome.

Issues I never bring up need support..
BannerJohn replied to MadHatterGraphix's topic in Off Topic Section
I had a stroke at 41. My right side was paralyzed for awhile. I could not write or even sign my own name. Lots of hard work and therapy and I am mostly back to normal....maybe 95%. The point is you don't have to be old to get really sick. Do what you have to do you might not get a second chance like I did. -
there is a reason why the premium greenstar blades are so good but I can't say.
