  1. 631 is def tricky and if you have texture (90% of the time) it's even tougher. Being able to get it off means that it isn't as aggressive. I use 651 for a lot of semi-permanent work and 751 for vehicles and higher end signboards like diabond. Have yet to feel the need for the 951. The house brand (GS) app tape performs well. The only complaint I have ever had is that the edges are wrinkly for some reason. Someone on the forum here gave a tip long ago about rolling the app tape out sticky side up and then applying the graphics to it rather than laying the graphic vinyl side up and applying app tape. Real good tip BTW. Well with the Green Star you have to be more careful because something in the trimming process leaves about an 1/8in little crease along the outside edges which occasionally cause issues. Other than that one thing it works great and as long as you are prepared for it to do that then it's not much of a factor. I buy more expensive stuff for full width 24" rolls but always keep a 12" roll of GS around for everyday smaller graphics. The clear stuff from GS is lousy. It will rip when removing which will in turn rip your vinyl. It might not be bad on smaller stuff but I have a 24" roll and hate it. I have been trying to use it up but I won't sell it to customers because they all came back complaining about it so I switched to Clear Choice for my clear preferred.

    Etched Colt pistol

Wow I'm totally impressed! Had to be tough to get the grips to look that good. That's my favorite model BTW.

    retro RC car Hog Heaven

I have been trying to no avail to find a better close up of this Hog. It's a long shot but maybe one of you have seen this particular hog. This is about as close up as I have found and it's not close enough for as detailed as it will need to be.

    GreenStar

A banner is a great application for GS because it doesn't see 100% use so it gets a break. In my personal opinion I tend to believe softer substrates like that also allow for a little shrinkage to occur without harm.

    GreenStar

It's tougher than Filson double Tin pants, well maybe not THAT tough but it's tough. I used it to line some kitchen shelves and have been amazed at the abuse it will handle. Kinda has some shrinkage issues and some edge curling issues with age but for real short term use it works. Some clients think thicker is better so for them it's the ticket. I currently have a big black slab of it on the side of a 40 ton articulated dump truck that I'm doing a field test to see how well and how long it will go before it starts showing any tell-tale signs of giving up. I looked at it last week and it has been bombarded with rocks and has some damage from that but still seems to be hanging on (pardon the pun). It's got white 651 Oracal lettering on top for comparison.

    Help with font

That looks like something simple like Futura, Helvetica or another basic full block text.
  9. I save to illustrator 8. they work great without having to change your file type to svg or eps.
  10. I think overcut should be more like 0.078 rather than 0.50
  11. Is this an older P-Cut? Those parts look nothing like the one I had. I would say definitely should not be that loose and that has to play a part in the issue.
  12. What is your overcut setting?
  13. If it's not a setting (which assumes that signcut has worked through all those with you) then it probably is something mechanical. Have you tried the pen tool to see if it draws it goofy like that on paper?

Need Something To View AI Files In Windows 8

I have it on my 64bit window 7 laptop but as FrznFire mentioned I had to go get it from the adobe site. They have it there in their support section and a generic serial number to run it.
  15. Double check that the roller that you moved is still over a grit roller bellow it. As a newbie I was cutting fine one day and then moved my pinch rollers around and ended up off the traction parts on the drive roller and made a mess. I am unfamiliar with the Titan models and how they are designed but the other cutter I had at the time had sections that had grit and sections that didn't.
  16. Ya the file looks fine. You might have an overcut setting too high or something. Does your version of signcut pro have a tangential emulation option? If so I would check into that too. There is no good reason that the cutter should be doing that. You might try getting with signcut tech support. THey are really good about getting you going. I have a feeling that you have something set-up wrong. I haven't had my P-Cut for about a year and I can't remember where I had mine set to on all the settings. SignCut Pro has had a upgrade since then too (I think) and possible things have changed since I was using it with my P-Cut. I still use it with my new cutter but the drivers are totally different between each model.
  17. Just from looking at the cut I would almost guess that is a design issue. There shouldn't be nearly that much side by side cutting. The ends might not line up but they usually just leave a small gap at the corner. double check your file and be sure that there isn't something going on in there. It would help if you could upload your file and we can take a look to be sure it's not something like that. I'm not saying you don't still have some other issue but the inside of the those two cuts look wrong.

New to Vinyl from the UK

Welcome and the P-cut is a good starter model.
  19. I don't remember if there is an illustrator plug-in or not from the SCALP program but I didin't use it either way. I just saved the file in CS5 and opened it in SCALP. I design on a completely different computer than I cut with so I usually transfer my files over on a thumb drive all the time. What I remember happening with the colors was that I designed like normal but when the file opened in SCALP all the colors were the same so I would have to try and break it apart and re-color it and that was a pain so I started just copying whole color layers over into new .ai files and then I had no real issues.

This is a good group of folks for sure. Everyone pretty much all get along well ere and the moderators do an good job of riding herd and reigning us in if we start getting out of hand. I am a member of several forums (of varying topics) and this one stands in it's own category for friendly, helpful advice.
  21. Static can also cause issues but from what you are describing it wounds different. Static seems to just lock the thing up from my experience with a P-Cut. Don't have first hand knowledge on the MH but have heard they have some of the same symptoms. Good luck. I doubt it is a software issue. I'm not a huge fan of SCALP but never had any cutting issues when I was using it. I think I sent files in CS5 native format without any real issues other than cut-by-color was giving me enough grief that I started breaking by designs up into single color files and cutting them separately. There have been many upgrades since then so it's probably a totally different program at this point. Or not.
  22. GCExtreme is correct on the cost per ea. but from a sales standpoint the more you offer the more likely you will have sales in one or the other and probably both. Just think of the customer who wants a cool decal and then realizes he can have a shirt to match or vise versa. If you can make $5-$6 per shirt you will achieve ROI in 50-100 shirts since you already have the cutter, design tools etc. Easy math dude. In my experience so far there are 10 times the amount of people who want multiple shirt orders vs multiple decal orders.

    Legal Question

Oh and definitely call their lawyer and have as long a conversation with them as possible because it will likely cause them to receive a big bill. <snicker>

    Legal Question

Be sure to read the disclaimer under this post and I am also in no way offering legal advice but if you are underselling their product or hampering their sales it would be a pretty simple way to try and dissuade you and maybe get you out of competition by just drafting up a C&D letter hoping to scare you off.
