topcatfavors 0 Posted August 25, 2008 Can anyone help, I am going to purchase replacement blades. I want to get both 45 degree and 60 degree, but before I do, I want to know what each type is used for? I am currently cutting Thermo Flex Xtra (white) to be heat applied to nylon cushy coolers. When I use the blue that came with my cutter it cuts fine, but when I use the red, it either cuts all the way through or if I ajust the pressure slightly, it does not cut cleanly. It leaves some small edges.
kenimes 42 Posted August 25, 2008 If you get better results with the 60's (blue), just use those. The 45's (red) should work as well, so not sure what is going on- maybe blade depth issue. Usually the 45's are for most vinyl, and the 60's are for thicker material.
topcatfavors 0 Posted August 25, 2008 Thanks for the tips. I used Ken's instructions for setting the depth (1/2) a credit card depth and it is working great now.
Guest fivestar Posted August 25, 2008 I'm with tykite, I use nothing but 60 degree blades now and they work better for me.
haumana 1,220 Posted August 28, 2008 I just made the swap from 45 to 60. much cleaner in tight spots. I don't think I'll go back to 45 ... unless I wear out all my 60's.
