Just curious...

When I got my Pcut, I connected the USB cable, and the cutter worked so I left it alone... you know what they say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

So, I was just curious if trying out the serial cable would allow the computer and cutter to communicate better, in hopes to close all these cuts?

Bought the cutter because it was USB. It kept dying half way through cuts. Switched to serial and never been happier.

After I bought the Pcut I got nervous reading post about USB problems then to top it off I use it on a laptop  But it works like a charm. Of course to throw a wrench in that I use a Macbook running a virtual machine of xp to do my cutting and to date have not had a problem with the USB yet.

i have not tried the usb anymore although i have a newer pc, but i have been curious.

but i better leave well enough alone.

USB using a borrowed laptop. When I get a dedicated PC I'd think I'd like to go serial. But, no problems so far with USB. MJ

Is it possible that one connection is able to communicate better than the other... i.e. end result = better/cleaner/closed cuts?

When is the not closing most noticeable? Just a suggestion, draw a 1/2" x 1/2" box, 1" x 1", 2" x 2", 3" x 3", and so on up to 10...  put paper in, set your offset to zero and pen plot it. Then measure all the boxes and note any discrepancies in sizes.

I ran into something similar with mine.....

Or, if it sounds like to much work...

Tried USB during testing. Laptop didn't have a serial port. Went with serial on th desktop with no issues. Found it easier to set up.

Ken, maybe you can answer this question.

Will you get a better/cleaner cut from one connection or the other?
