DNA_Vinyl 262 Posted March 28, 2016 What's the difference or what's better? or is it just preference? Clamshell or Swing Arm.
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted March 28, 2016 Swing away no Burnt knuckles and working under heat, clam takes less room as no need for room for the swing
mr300s 1,272 Posted March 28, 2016 I have both and like the swing away much better
security802 686 Posted March 28, 2016 I have full size clam and 9x12 swing. Clam works great, except the couple times you burn the knuckles as stated above. The swing arm is great but takes way too much space for me to think about a larger version right now. The swing away is great for positioning designs without the added heat above.
JohnatUSCutter 49 Posted March 29, 2016 The difference is mostly ergonomics. Swingaways are a lot easier on your back and arms which helps during long runs of shirts. Past that, if you're heat pressing sublimated materials they tend to have better heat distribution (which means more even color.) You'll find that people who do sublimation and transfer papers STRONGLY recommend swing away presses over clamshells.
