tooler82 182 Posted October 28, 2015 Has anyone ever had to vector a vector? Yeah well I can say I have now. I'm in the process of tracing a vector because the vector they sent is that bad.

Sue2 920 Posted October 28, 2015 Oh yeah...I've had those piece-meal vectors made up of 8 million little pieces laid over each other.... looks good until you look at the wireframe. Of course, that's just when "weld" doesn't want to work! Carry on..................or contact skarekrow! He can make your life easier. Sue2
skarekrow 1,842 Posted October 29, 2015 Thanks, Sue. Like mark-s, ran across more of them than I care to count. Some of those tangled messes are the result of building a vector file for print only. Without the restraint of the rigid rules cut paths often dictate, These files are often an overlapping mess of self-intersecting sub paths. There are a few shortcuts but more often than not, you'll have to start from scratch.
mr300s 1,272 Posted October 29, 2015 Thats why I have a lot of respect for you guys that can do those and get rid of the mess. You seem to be some of the best at it. I wouldnt even want to try. I have trouble playing with nodes LOL
tooler82 182 Posted October 29, 2015 I'm showing a screen shot. The top one is the one they sent me. There's tails, and junk in it. I remade it and cleaned it up.
dcbevins 340 Posted October 29, 2015 One of the annoyances of CorelDraw is that the weld function can have unwanted results. Reversing the direction of the path sometimes helps. But often, I put something that refuses to weld the way I wish into Inkscape and do a union. It frequently does a better job. So just a suggestion to have more than one screwdriver in your tool box.
