Primal Decals 621 Posted September 11, 2015 For some reason all of a sudden when i double click on a Ai file or svg file, it wont automatically open Illustrator anymore. It starts to open it, runs the screen saver for Ai program but then shuts down.. But If i open Ai first and then double click my file it will work just fine. Ive already made sure Ai is the default for these types of files etc .So now im at a loss and hopefully someone can help.. Thanks in Advance...

dcbevins 340 Posted September 11, 2015 Maybe a log file can give you a hint. https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-launch-errors-using-logs.html Also possible is that the Windows Event Viewer can show an error at the time this happens.

skarekrow 1,842 Posted September 12, 2015 A couple of times over the past 20 years Photoshop (and Illustrator ?) started acting weird and closing all Adobe apps and tossing the Pref (Preference) file in the trash straightened the issues out. No guarantees, of course... just a possibility.
