Spunky.Fresh.Designs 11 Posted November 11, 2014 What exactly is punched vinyl? I'm looking to buy my first frost vinyl and I need to know what that means and I was also curious about any tips on cutting vs. standard vinyl. Thanks
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted November 11, 2014 Punched has the holes punched down both edges. Made for tractor feed cutters but works fine for normal cutter you just lose a little area on each edge.
OWJones 1,981 Posted November 11, 2014 You really don't lose that much, as the edges are usually covered by the grit rollers anyways... You realistically end up losing about a 1/8" strip on each side, so unless your design goes all the way to the grit rollers, you probably won't really lose much. It bugged me when I first bought punched rolls, but I can't think of a time, yet, that I've needed that extra tiny bit of vinyl...
Spunky.Fresh.Designs 11 Posted November 11, 2014 Is frosted vinyl more difficult to cut?
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted November 11, 2014 Can't say that I've ever tried it.
OWJones 1,981 Posted November 12, 2014 Is frosted vinyl more difficult to cut? I've not had a problem with it, although the frosted vinyl I have is on a clear backing and it sometimes confuses the media sensors on my cutter. Other than that, it cut just like normal vinyl.
