Silhouette PIxscan

Recommended Posts

Alright has anyone seen this thing? its pretty neat in my book, you take this mat that was put out by Silhouette and you put any image that you want to cut out on to it. you download an app and you take a photo of it with your camera put the cutting mat into the cutter and it will contour cut it. I'm looking at getting it and trying it out. However you need the mat which has registration marks on it.

That's a neat idea. Just need to take a good straight on picture.

Jay actually I read more into it and they say you can have a slight angle to the picture as long as it has all of the mat and the registration marks.

Sue I can see this getting better as time rolls on like having an app to transfer the data to your computer with wifi and such. Anyone have 14.99 I can borrow  to try it lol

The nesting feature, where it measures your scraps and arranges cut shapes to fit into the scraps, looks very handy for people that work with a lot of scraps...

Same idea....

The Brother has a built in scanning unit whereas the Silhouette

needs a camera to input the image of what is to be cut.

Maybe the Brother unit would be a bit more consistant.

but it is twice the cost.

Now, I don't see why Graphtec/Roland/etc can't

come up with something similar to the Silhouette app

for their machines.  Using the photo process to make an

template for your cutout....most already have the registration

recoginition software.
