nfalbert 0 Posted August 14, 2013 I would like to know if anyone makes a film (vinyl or other) supplied as a sheet which is backed by some stiff paper of cardboard, the backing having the adhesive. I need to apply very thin donut like shapes shapes to my product as shown at http://nfatechnology.com/MoreFeatures.html. The donut-like design, as shown on my website is approximately 4in dameter with a width of 1/8in. The one shown in the photo was cut with an X-acto knife and very carefully applied which is is not practical for production. I have a CraftRobo / Grafphtec cc200-20 which does a nice job a some adhesive backed materials, but the finished "part" would be difficult to handle when trying to apply the decoration to my product especially since it has to fit into a recess of the same shape molded into the product. That is why I would like to find a material with some backing that my machine might be able to cut with its deeper cut setting. Thanks Neil Albert
slice&dice 2,451 Posted August 14, 2013 Sounds like you need a die-stamping machine.
nfalbert 0 Posted August 16, 2013 Thanks for your reply Slice&Dice. You obviously understand what I'm talking about and a manufacturer has had a unit of mine with the possibility of doing just that. However, I 'm not sure that subscontracting these labels would be cost effective for me so I'm going to try myself with 2.5-3mil Oracal and see if I can apply these myself. I just ordered a small amount of black Oracal 651 and also 631. The materials I've tried so far are only about 1 mil so I'm going to give the 3 mil stuff to see if it's feasible Neil
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted August 16, 2013 If you use the oracal and use a clear application tape it will dramatically increase the rigidity so you can apply easier.
nfalbert 0 Posted August 16, 2013 Thanks so much, Jaybird. I'll give that a try. Neil
