livinloudgraphics 39 Posted February 8, 2013 bought a serial to usb converter and installed all the software that came with it and such. when i go to cut something with it, it doesnt want to cut the cutter doesnt respond etc what would need to be done in order to get this item working when i do the listing of the com ports it says com3 but when i got to look for it there is no com 3 on my computer and even when i change it, it says the same. just wondering what could be wrong Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted February 8, 2013 first did you buy the "keyspan" adapter or antoher brand with who knows what chipset in it? Second are you using a null modem cable and not a regular serial cable? If you answered yes to the above third did you follow the newbie guide in instructional contributions for port settings?
