Our local news station did a piece on engraving monuments (cemetery headstones). they showed how cutters are used to create the premask for sandblasting. I think I will buy a small sandblaster at harbor Freight and give it a try on tile. But as for actually engraving I'm not sure how they could be used for that.

I'm "pretty sure" there are add-ons to certain cutters that will allow you to engrave with them.  If my memory serves me correctly Billy Hughes was going to check into them and post his findings on this board, but Billy has since went MIA.

Yes, there are flatbed cutters that will do engraving. They just have multilple attachments.

should be able to google it. I have seen them at trade shows.

In the scrapbooking industry there are scratch engravers that can be fitted to a vinyl cutter

However i have not been able to track down the manufacturer.

There are a few resellers who sell these.

In effect they just scratch the surface.

here is a link to the most popular site.

If anyone knows who make these please tell us.

I am sure that US Cutter would love to sell these accessories.

I am off to China this week and will be talking to many manufacturers.

So maybe i can find out where to buy them.

Thanks for pointing out the one on eBay.

I wonder if anyone has tried it and how well it works. Will that even fit on the US Cutters?
