MadStickerLab 0 Posted September 22, 2010 Hi, Horribly newbie question, but I have to ask it. I have hand-traced a picture in Inkscape and now need to save it to get it into SignBlazer. Can you please tell me what is the best format to use to save it in? It is a regular vector line drawing with no fill. Thanks!
MZ SKEETER 4,709 Posted September 22, 2010 use .eps format. maybe you should post a picture of what you are trying to cut. You can upload it by replying and to to the left of the box is ADDITIONAL OPTIONS. when you draw, it has two lines on each path. . the outside and the inside of the path. or else there would be nothing to cut. You cannot have one line unless it is like a silhouette type design that is filled in.
MZ SKEETER 4,709 Posted September 22, 2010 example, this star could be drawn with with pencil, or marker, but when it is vectorized, there is a cutting line on the outside and the inside of the star. Which then would be the BLACK part of the star showing. 4th star over. top line the outline star http://www.clker.com/search/outline+star/1 this star only has one cutting line and will be solid. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=clipart+Stars&FORM=MFEIMG&publ=Yahoo&CREA=userid1743615badd687cc4ad7839d0475d9dc5bb7y#focal=daa7f6978f6d68d9548cd097a8d493b7&furl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.badgeplanet.co.uk%2Fart%2Fdyo%2Finterface%2Fclipart%2Fstar2.gif
MadStickerLab 0 Posted September 22, 2010 Ah! I see. So would it be correct to say that if I wanted it to cut out as a sillohuet (which I do) I would then fill the object with black? Or is there some other way to make it a single line as opposed to the double line? Thanks you so much! This was a huge help!
MZ SKEETER 4,709 Posted September 22, 2010 just fill it.... or delete the outside or inside line. Your welcome
MadStickerLab 0 Posted September 22, 2010 Excellent! And I have also found that if I save my Inkscape work in PS instead of EPS I no longer have the issues in SignBlazer that I was having. Kind of strange! I'm getting closer Thanks again for your kindness and help I'm studying hard to get this right.
