bayotle 26 Posted July 19, 2010 I know, I'm pushing my luck w/all the postings but got one more for the ever so tolerent forum support guys Since i came up with my great idea of sticking my logos on my customers vehicles (w/out their knowing! ) ... and the fact that I've put several hours into my truck... Do you need to do anything to get a 'decent' life out of the vinyl? Not so much worried about UV or more than a year or so usage... So far, I've cut peeled and stuck it to the truck (greenstar/us cutter vinyl) I'm wondering how safe it is to run the truck through the local car wash (not that it happens all that often!) Thanks again and I'll TRY (no promises!) to keep my dumb questions to a minimum!
windasm 0 Posted July 20, 2010 Sticking your logo on peoples cars without them knowing is a absolute no no in my book. You should just give stickers out to your friends and family. Someone sooner or later will ask them where they got the sticker at and they will lead them back to you. I have got alot of small sales with people my wife works with just by decorating my her car up with a few stickers. I'm not sure about the greenstar vinyl. I use oracal myself and have had no problems running my cars through a car wash. The good thing is that you can always replace the greenstar on your cars if it does tear up when washing. Rodger 527 Posted July 20, 2010 I put a 12" X 12" decal ( Oracal 651 ) on the back of my wife's minivan in the wiperblade area 2 years ago ( 1rst grandchild ) . She ran it thru the carwash often & used the wipers everytime it rained . It was never parked in the garage & it just got to where I thought it needed to be removed . This spring's blizzard actually damaged it more than anything . The blizzard actually took some decals off of 1 of my escort vehicles .
bayotle 26 Posted July 21, 2010 YES It was a joke! As a norm I don't like putting anything on my vehicles (especially the way I drive!) but figured a little advertising wouldn't hurt and I could always say I give fast service if someone complains about my speeding Guess before i spend to much time on detailing it, I best hit a car wash and see if it holds up. If not, guess I'll check into the Oracal... Thanks for the input!

I do my own car washes, but I've even run the rear wiper over the vinyl and it's just fine. Very sturdy stuff.
