Flexi starter Outlined letters

Hi,

I have Flexi Starter 8.5v1 and am trying to cut some letter for a project and I want to have a background letter of a different color a .25" larger on the inside and outside of the smaller letter, do you have any information that a novice can do and understand available, and if so where?

Things might have changed but the version of Flexi starter I had didn't do outlines. I had to do the outlines in Inkscape.

I have Flexi starter 8.5 and 8.6  ,no outline of text.  It has to be designed elsewhere and imported into Flexistarter.
