CURSIVE FONTS

Recommended Posts

When cutting loopy cursive fonts, where the letters over lap, is there any way to tell  the cutter not to cut each of the overlapping parts? So that the cutter recognizes the word as a whole? I thank you in advance.

Hello Wendy,

Thank you for your post as i am sure there are many, many others who have the EXACT same question.

First you have to be able to use some special tools in SignBlazer.

The first is wire frame view.

The short cut is Control + F.  This toggles from a rendered view (full color) to wireframe.

The second one is the node edit tool.

When you use this with script it allows you to adjust the distance between letters.

Adjust the distance so that it pleases you.

The third tool is total weld.

The short cut for this is just the letter W.

After you adjusted the distance of the letters to you satisfaction simply select them and press W for weld.

Wow! all the overlaps have vanished.

Then just cut them.

Hint, if you find after using W parts vanish then simply undo and increase the size by 200% by dragging a corner.

Then weld.

Then resize and cut.

Jerry from SignBlazer.

Thank you so very much. I want the letters to overlap so I don't want to adjust the spacing between the letters. So all I need to do is weld it?

Thank you for the prompt response.

Wendy

About Welding,

Here is a bit of USELESS information about WELDING.

Back in the early 90s we used to show SignBlazer at trade shows.

I earned the wrath of many by demonstrating SB welding 20 overlapped objects with a stop watch.

SignBlazer was always even in the days of 386s and 486s less than a second.

Then i would do the same in our competitor's programs.

I remember that the fastest was just over 46 seconds!!!!!!!!

That was the most heavily advertised one at the time.

It is still around today.

Still it was fun to do.

Jerry from SignBlazer.

See folks, another reason to take the time to learn this outstanding program we now bundle with our cutters.
