burneyrubber 0 Posted March 10, 2010 Ok well ive just noticed this problem today really but thats because ive been cutting vinyl for signs and not for tshirts as i usually do,but looking at some of the tshirt flex vinyl i cut yesterday i can see it still had the same problem. the problem is my cutter is cutting wavy lines instead of nice straight ones. as the title says its an MH721 model im using flexisign pro 8.1 as my cutting software ive never changed any settings in flexi as ive never needed to despite blade changes etc. the knife offset is currently at 0.051cm (as its always been) so far ive tried: new blades and old ones, ive cleaned the runners and wheels for the carrige tried to cut different shapes heresw a pic,my camera didnt want to focus but you should get the idea. the lines are not massivly wavy but they deffinatley show enough to be a big problem. MacGrafix 5 Posted March 10, 2010 Are they wavy or perforated. My LP was doing that, but it was actually still attached a little bit. I oiled my blade holder and decreased the amount of blade showing and increased my pressure just a smidge. Seems to have worked so far.
thredz 1 Posted March 10, 2010 If you're using flexi, I would go to node edit and see if there are a bunch of nodes between the first and last point of the cut. It looks like the material my mom used to make with pinking shears. But in a square, or rectangle, there should only be nodes on each of the corners and none between. burneyrubber 0 Posted March 10, 2010 they are wavy lines not perferated....its supposed to be dead straight. its nothing to do with nodes, its cutting from one point to another witrh nothing inbetween. ive tried updating driver to this one: http://support.uscutter.com/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=viewdownload&downloaditemid=44&nav=0,4 also tried adjusting the offset but its at its best where it was first of all. tried adjusting pressure. tried slowing the machine speed right down..no change. the blade is barely showing. tried more and less pressure. burneyrubber 0 Posted March 10, 2010 its almost like its cutting the anti aliasing, dead square/straight lines are no where near as bad as angled lines.
burneyrubber 0 Posted March 10, 2010 ive now also tried tightening the belt on the cutter, still no luck. also ive posted this in the discussion department, can someone move me please to support.

Is the stand grounded to the cutter. Static builds up from the vinyl, There is numerous posts in here about grounding your stand to a screw on the cutter just do a main search with the word grounding. you will find numerous posts
tinaski 11 Posted March 10, 2010 my opinion is first to see if its the cutter/software or the knife when it cuts a line from side to side - does the rollers move back and forth? if they don't move back and forth its the knife or blade holder swerving from side to side take the holder out can you move it with your finger all around with out it sticking? it should be very free and easy to spin another thought maybe its too loose not enough tension on the blade to hold it in place
burneyrubber 0 Posted March 10, 2010 ive reinstalled flexi...no joy ive tried cutting using signblazer ...still the same. i had the cutter apart and tightened anything that needed it,air blasted the whole thing so its totally free of dust, cleaned the runners that the wheels run in and the wheels and very lightly oiled the runner, tightened the tension a bit on the pully. cutting in a straight line ie if the rollers stay still and it cuts a straight line is fine, dead straight. its diagonal lines thats the problem. the holder is solid tight in its clamp and definatley dosent move, and theres no play with the blad and yes it moves freely inside the holder. ive also tried cutting on both sides of the cutter and in the middle. im running out of ideas
burneyrubber 0 Posted March 10, 2010 it seems this is a major problem with these cutters which is not good and ive yet to find a solution on this forum despite the huge amount of posts with the same problem. the answer just seems to be..theyre cheap what do you expect...which isnt good. if i had the money id buy a roland tomorrow but right now i dont and this cutter was generating money but now its costing money. i read that the support staff are really nice blah blah blah but thats no good if they cant sort the problem,i dont want a chat with a nice support member, what i want is this problem sorted out. i read this in one of the posts: I would like to add that there is one thing that can be a major contributor to this issue. If you turn on the machine and try to rock the feed roller back and forth it should not move. If it does it's likely the belt is loose. Remove the left end cap, check the belt on the feed roller and drive motor. it should be fairly tight and you shouldn't be able to push the sides together more than about 1/8". if it is loose you can loosen the 4 screws holding the motor in place, slide the motor away from the feed roller and tighten the screws back down. Hope this helps anyone with this issue. Also if you change the tension on the carriage belt be sure NOT to overtighten this belt as this will actually ADD TO the problem. It should be reasonably tight, not loose or floppy, and not tight like a guitar string. Howard Irwin Support Specialist US Cutter 425-481-3555 888-298-8143 - Option 2 well i can actually move the rollers if the cutter is on or off,but the belt is tight. burneyrubber 0 Posted March 10, 2010 so after reading a post with 26 pages theres no answer.
MrMopar64 47 Posted March 10, 2010 Well one way to help this is to blur the image about .2 in Illy then save as a eps and send to flexi... Thats prob just a band aid but it's worked when I needed it MM64
hockeygirl 30 Posted March 10, 2010 This probably isn't it... but worth a try... I've only seen wavy lines on my cutter when I switch out different thickness of vinyl, without readjusting the pinch roller tensions. I'd get the jagged lines when they're not tight enough. burneyrubber 0 Posted March 11, 2010 thanks for suggestions. @ MrMopar64 thanks for the suggestion but even if that works its not an option,i have LOADS of art work and dont have time to be blurring it just because a certain angle is wobbly. @ hockeygirl i have tried that i will be running more tests today but i think ive just about covered everything i can. The ticket i put in got a reply last night so thats good, but we shall see if they have managed to find a solution to this problem yet.
burneyrubber 0 Posted March 11, 2010 ive been doing tests on paper using the pen as its getting too expensive keep running vinyl through. at its slowest speed of 10mms the wavy lines arent that noticeable at 100 mms the horizontal and diagonal lines are noticeable and look like perferated lines (lots of dashes make up the lines) 200 mms + is terrible, obvious dashes make up the lines, especially the diagonals. mrfrank 0 Posted March 14, 2010 Hey. I seriously need a solution to this problem too. Will try some things and will keep this thread updated with my progress. So far tried cleaning tracks, taking off tracks and cleaning wheels, tightening blade holder in really tight.. Nothing is working.
MrMopar64 47 Posted March 14, 2010 Have you tried zooming in on the image to make sure the lines on the image are straight? Just a thought MM64
mrfrank 0 Posted March 14, 2010 Hey. Sadly this is not the problem if only. The image is perfect in the .eps file (straight line, one anchor point to another). Thanks for the suggestion though.
mrfrank 0 Posted March 14, 2010 Just submitted a ticket - so hopefully a reply soooon! Will update with the reply.
